I believe they have no intention of ever meeting anyone in person, for whatever reason. I'm starting to think going to a bar would actually be a better place to meet someone. At least then you know if there is chemistry right away, can tell if they over induldge in drinking, and get a good feel if they are interested in you and vice versa. Online...hmmmm I question the whole thing. Let me know your take on it..im interested

The forums are not just about meeting people, although that has happened!, and some excellent friendships have been forged on these pages too. But further to that, it is a candid, and open conversation with many people at the same time. You can gain valuable insight with someone else's opinion...of course if you leave, you'll have a question that everyone here would LIKE to help with, and then can't, that is a rare enough reason to stick around, I think.
If you are more at ease in the bar, that's cool, I understand your wanting to interact more that typing.

I personally have not met anyone off this site, a few off another, but nothing prevailed.
This site holds a very special place for me,
it is full of Great & Awesome people & new close friends!

I come here and in minutes am LMAO!
As well as getting some great advice & support for the more serious issues in life!

I have gone on two dates since being on this site......which is almost a year now.....
it isn't that people aren't willing to date.....I just think that as we get older, there are certain characteristics that attract us and maybe many on here don't have them???
that is the purpose of getting involved with the forums......as someone else above me mentioned, it is an avenue to get to know how one thinks.....and how they react to certain issues.......
If the bar scene is your thing, then more power to you....but then again, I would rather have conversation with someone whom is NOT influenced by a drink but moreso, someone who isn't........

Here i have made some great friends even though i have been here for a short period of time.
The threads are a great way of getting to know someone and how they think. You're a great bunch and i love coming here for some stress relief lol

I have met soem great people one this site - and have made friends with many I have yet to meet.
Datewise - met a really great guy - but the timing was wrong.

Actually i have never been into the bar scene . I don't drink , hate to dance and don't enjoy music so loud that you can't talk to people.
I was not really talking about the forums as a way of meeting people i was talking about the dating site here .It's just really discouraging when the only messages you get are from men far away in very poor countries.You know they are only interested in coming here and using you as the means to escape their country.

I think maybe you might be setting your expectations a little high? This is the internet after all and people are quite often not who they seem!

I know of four couple that have met thier mates on these sites....to some it happened quickly - some took a few years.

Personally,made excellent true blue friends here.That in itself is more precious than gold. Met someone,met them in person but things just weren't meant to be. Could happen anywhere,it's life.

No i don't think i am setting my expectations a little high. This is a dating site after all ,and expecting to meet a few people is hardly setting my expectations to high . It's not like i am expecting to meet prince charming or a millionaire . Just normal average guys will do nicely. Heck even below average would be fine.
I haven't met anyone off CS yet, but I have met maybe a dozen women over the years on different sites. Have dated perhaps half of them. Started one serious relationship, but it didn't take.
On the plus side; I've met a dozen nice people. (chatted with many more nice people) The whole experience, even when not perfect, was always far from boring. And I have gained 3 of my best friends through the process.
So be patient my dear. The ride can be long, bumpy, thrilling, frustrating, and hard. But it can definitely be worth it.

Some people just seem to be more gifted at making friends. The rest of us just have to stay optimistic and keep plugging away.
I've tried internet dating sites for about 7 years. Have met one on one with a grand total of 4 all of whom I dated but none lasting longer than a couple of months although I'm still friends with one. Haven't met anyone from CS yet unless I count the one get together I went to but I've only been here a few months.
Will I meet the girl of my dreams here? Probably not but I'm still having fun. To be honest I have done a search of local members and there's no one here that I'm particularly interested in but I suppose that could change if I got to know someone better.
I would suggest that you try and get out to some of the events and get togethers. I've only been to one so far and altho it was a small crowd I was struck by just how nice and friendly everyone was.

I have no expectations of finding my soul mate here because I do have a life outside of the computer. But hey if I do meet my main squeeze from here then that would be great but if not at least I did make some amazing friends and got to share my views and learn a lot of from others and what made them tick.
