Coulda, woulda, shoulda... Regrets? (15)

Following my quote about regrets Mr Lagoon suggested I start a thread, so here goes...

The quote is from movie Under the Tuscan Sun 'Regrets are simply that past crippling the future'.

I'd like to think that nowadays I don't live with any regrets. Probably just the odd minor like paying someone an alturistic compliment Or in the past when I wanted to call and didn't i'd kick myself.

Other than that I generally don't live my life by coulda, should, woulda. Life is too short.

As the song goes: How I wish I, wish I'd done a little bit more
Now "Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda" means I'm out of time
Coz "Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda" can't change your mind
And I wonder, wonder what I'm gonna do

I think if you say you have no regrets, you're kidding yourself...or you haven't been living...part of life is to know regret.....all of us could do better second time around... nicht wahr?

In life you always live with regrets, not so much for not having done something, but for not doing enough, like not loving enough someone who has passed away.
I think what you mean when you say that you want to live the present and not the past, is that you try not to repeat your mistakes, and to do more of what is expected of you to do.
What is wrong is brooding over our regrets, and not simply using them to make ourselves better.
For me the only regrets are things that we cannot make up for. There is always time to do what we have'nt done yet, if we want to.

I wouldn't call what you describe "regrets" Lagoona, but rather "having learned something from past experiences" and may be gained more wisdom... As I believe that most people usually "do the best they know how" at any given time...

Regrets are an intrinsic part of Life for all of us. Brooding is an impediment to moving forward and away from its cause. Brooding is always negative. This old saying about learning isn't of any help, as the time and circumstances never come again that allows you put into practice whatever it is that you think you have learned so as not to repeat it again. Each new set of "circumstances" is just that; new and open to new if. Circumstances can't be designed nor taylor made for a person. While there many things that I regret, I do not brood over them; I just want to get the future behind me...%@

Some people live in the past, some in the future...and some in what's happening today, right this moment.
I'd only guess, that people who mostly live in their past are more inclined to have good amount of regrets. We live and learn, we make mistakes over and over again..okay, okay, some are learning from their mistakes and don't repeat them. In my case, I can only say: I try. Not to....
Regrets? they come and go....it's always better to live in the present and manage to do things right....so, we don't accumulate more while moving forward...........
Brooding over is the worst....we can't change our past, impossible task. We can only improve our future.

I've lived plenty and still have much living to do.

I don't sit around and wonder 'what if'.

I think each and every one of us seems to have their own definition of regret.

Having been in relationships before that didn't work, do I regret being in those relationship 'no', for the destination was what I was heading for but the journey can be one of contentment.

regrets are for the past.......look to the future for fulfillment
