Would you be able to just leave it all behind and move to a different country, alone?

That's what'll be doing in October, i'll be leaving all my friends here in Portugal, my life and all that comes with it and going for the experience of starting fresh in a new country, switzerland in this case :)

Good luck. You are going to one of the best countries in the world.
Don't worry about it. You would have had to do a lot more worrying, had you chosen to go to a third world country.
Wish I could join you!

Pavarotti left it all behind this morning, and that is far worse than whatever you will be leaving behind.

Been there done that and I just did it again...your friends are no further away than your messenger or your skype phone...you meet new friends and you get another culture under your skin...all in all it is very educacional and if you make sure you come out and meet other people you wont feel lonely...

Good luck with it all...

I've done it too. The first few months are an adjustment period, but you will be fine and a year from now have lots of wonderful new experiences to share with your new friends as well as your old.

Good luckwave

well im leaving switzerland for spain with my two kids. been here 15yrs. it has a very high standard of living and beautiful scenery. its very safe and clean but and its a big one and all foreigners talk about it, there are forums dedicated to it ......stay long enough to get over that holiday feeling and you will feel the hardness and the coldness, its a well known fact and im sorry to sound terrible and yes i have stayed a long time for my kids in this guilded cage but it has no soul or heart.

you sure need all the Luck anyone could wish you.
Just moved back here two years ago, after a 36 year stay Overseas.
Switzerland can be a pretty dreary place even if you have Family here.So I wish you all the best of Luck and hope you will find some Friends and Compagnionship soon.

Did it last year, moved to Latvia leaving everything behind............... a lot of friends were concerned I was moving to Russia :P but, apart from a few small chalenges it was probably the best thing I have done for a long time, a new start, meeting new people, discovering a new way of life.
