Good morning Atlam!

I wore a wedding ring the one time I had one.......... but is there a need when you wear your heart on your sleeve?

Mind you, I remember once being on a climbing exercise in Italy and a married chef deliberately didn't wear his wedding ring and dated a lovely young Italian girl.......one day he forgot to take it off and she found out he was married and that was the end of his little affair.

I think a married man or a married woman who tries to deceive other people as to their marital status are total 'low lives' and deserve to go to Hell.

very mad

I only wore a wedding ring for one out of three marriages......... I'm not into wearing jewelry as a man (also I didn't like the idea of some 'enemy' cutting off my finger for a ring as my corpse lay rotting on some battlefield in some distant land if I'd died in the Army........I also avoided tattoos as 'distinguishing marks' although I am not averse to a lady having a discrete tattoo stating 'I smitten only you Robbie darling' on her right cheek! rolling on the floor laughing

During my 34 years of marriage, I never wore my wedding ring.
I never felt like a married man either, although I was always faithful to my wife.
It is just that I felt I was not obliged to tell the world I was married. That was only my business.

I owned a wedding ring but never wore it, ditto the engagement ring, because it did not go with my lifestyle of farming and bricklaying .... I never felt "not married" by not wearing the rings, to me they were superfluous bits of bling ... and not chains of ownership.

I knew single men who wore wedding rings to attract a certain breed of female ....!... the predatory type of woman who seek out married men for flings ... except the joke was on them `cause the guys were single anyway, and not looking for long term involvement......

My father didn't ever wear a wedding ring. But he was never unfaithful.

The big question is what to do with your wedding ring after a divorce ? Sell it to a goldsmith who'll melt it ?

dunno

Neither my father nor my late husband wore wedding rings. When I was married, I sometimes wore mine and sometimes I did not (just not to leave it somewhere)... doh

I guess the wedding ring gets more and more selden these days. I see many men not wearing it, although I guess they are faithful. Maybe there is a cultural difference from the north to the south in this matter.

I never wore mine, as wearing rings and other jewelry didnt cope with the sport I was/am doing (more then than now ;o), and to be quite honest: I don't like to wear rings. I think they look stupid on my finger dunno

Interesting that many of the replies state that many don't wear rings. I'm surprised in a way as ues to think most of the men or women only took it off if they wanted to be taken as single.

After divorce or long term separation I'd imagine that most wouldn't want the constant reminder of their past marriage in the shape of a ring so would want to get rid of it. Ie. Jacko's response.

Selling to gold or silversmith could be the way to go or just giving it away so someone less fortunate can benefit.

Well you know Atlam honesty and sincerity is inbuilt and goes way beyond a wedding ring ......my ex husband never had one ...I rarely wore mine cos I hate jewellery of any kind on me........we never cheated .......I mean in any conversation with a person if you are being up front the fact that you are married have kids etc ...would come up pretty soon......deceit can take place on many levels ...I have met men who wore wedding rings and give you so many excuses !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello to you Costa wave

Hello to you Ghostie wave

I think all the responses are really interesting I honestly do. I must say I have on occasion worn a ring of my wedding finger to deter unwanted advances in certain situations. Sometimes its worked and other times had the opposite effect.

doh
