; what will be the situation in say 50yrs from now what will our children be saying to their grandchildren about us; and our inability to provide a safe world and enough resources ; will they blame us and will they be right to blame us;?

I hope that instead of blaming they get on with solving just like we have more or less done (at least some of us) about our ancestor's mistakes and misdoings!

blaming is the coward's option in my opinion.... I can blame the weather for my poor performance or I can get on and improve it. Perhaps cowards is not the right word but I can't think of the appropiate one right now.

I think mostly now days there's too much talking and not enough doing... and too many people getting a lot of money for doing the talking and organising and not enough people actually carrying anything out. Everyone wants to be "management" as long as it's dilluted in red tape so no one is ultimately "responsible" for anything. I hear you say what has that to do with the planet?
Well that is how governments, including local ones focus on the wrong issues: Too busy storming up "new ideas" to keep themselves in their jobs, rather than what really matters...

We live in a wonderful world in 'the west'.

Not that long ago over 90% of people were in agriculture and it was a hard life.

Then over 90% of people were in manufacturing industries.

Now over 90% of people work in service industries (about 2% maximum in agriculture and about 8% in manufacturing).

Take away the percentage of the population that isn't working at all (children, retired people, sick and lazy people) and it works out that probably less than 1% of the population produce all the food and manufactured goods we need.

We live in a relative Utopia compared to a few hundred years ago and what do we do? We whine and moan!

Let's hope that what took us decades to start to overcome regarding really bad environmental pollution (actual smog in our cities for example) doesn't take so long in places like China.

Maybe, when we are given a real choice of either more and more goods and services or a relatively easy life but without the old 'work until you drop' of the past we'll reach a happy compromise.

We have milked this planet of only a tiny tiny amount of its resources - and we can recycle mass and energy almost ad infinitum.

What's the problem? Our children have a bright future; it's up to them to make the most of it!

Greetings, oh Earthlings of many colours, shapes and sizes!

This is your favourite super hero, none other than the webslinger herself, hurling herself from building to building using only the elastic from her knickers to stop her plunging to her doom.....

Wedward ... I am absolutely positive about it ... your grandchildren are going to love you for persevering with hitting your head against the brick wall. "We had a realy wacky Grandad ... he kept hitting his head against brick walls".

On the Plus side .... I am sure too that it will improve your appearance .... sort of even out the shape of your face somewhat, what? But do remember to change sides every now and again, just so one side doesn`t get too flattish. Also, remember, try and choose those walls made from very smooth bricks.

You could even contemplate doing this as a Busker .... put down an upturned hat, and a sign "I do this
for my children". You could also play music and do it to a Hip-Hop rythm, or a slow Waltz when you get a bit dizzy or tired.dancing

I have Co-directed an d Directed a medium Recycling Firm in a Westindian Nation for near 30 years. The amount of metals we recycled was immense.Iam proud of the record of that Firm and can stand tall in the face of anyone thinking we have not done enough to safe this planet.Does not mean,of course, that there is not plenty more to do.
But its never been good to rush things before being relatively sure the measures are going to work.
Never liked the thought of Polititians climbing on my Bandwagoon and Hijacking my Ideas, because thats always the Sign that nothing is going to get done, except Talk,Talk and more Talk.
