If only people spent more time shining their shoes the world would be a better place to live in..........

In Switzerland, the shops are closed on Sunday, people leave work at 5pm, lazy people can live comfortably off welfare, even take international holidays, and the cafés always seem to be full....and nobody seems happy....if there is a rat race going on, it's not here, or am I just cynical....??

If rats leave a sinking ship, should one follow the 'rat pack'?

I know what you mean. Although I think I've left the rat race behind for the time being, life is still a race but a few less rats around.

Yup, you is just being cynical.....!

Life is what you make it.......

Long ago, kids were kids. They wore their cousins cast off clothing and only had 2 prs of shoes, if they were lucky. Now .... they are Designer Wear kids, and they sit in on adult conversations and have opinions, and they own all the latest technological gadgets, and they are more clever than their parents were at their ages... so they don`t need to be taken to the park to play anymore, or told to shut-up.

Families didn`t disperse all over the globe and communicate via email .. they lived around the corner so popped in for tea, gossip, beers, dart games, and sunday lunches, and to participate in the family Skiffle Band.....

Apart from when there was a nice good old-fashioned European war to take part in......then the kids had to grow up real fast and learn to fight - or their dads went away and many never came back; it was never the idylic world we imagine it was in 'the good old days'! conversing

Nice to see you back, smoky! grin

Thank you, kind sir...... nice to be back, albeit just for this moment .... I am practicing self-discipline in my life ... got to get rid of this addiction to CS thing ... and get my Best Seller finished! If I spent as much time writing my serious stuff as I spend writing here ... it would have been finished 6 months ago!

On that subject .... my home-made wine has turned into the most delightful Balsamic Vinegar!

Then I discovered about 10 bottles of realy Ancient Champagne up on a top shelf, left there by the previous owner.... and we all too scared to open the bottles.....
