The Hook-up / Blind date setup by family ..any horror stories ( Archived) (8)

I have discovered something about my family Match making will never be their profession ..they love me I know, but know me they don't.

My sister set me up with my ex-wife. after I got over the shock of her cheating I decided to bug my sister about her matchmaking skills. When ever she decides to try and set me up I now use my line.

"Oh know not again If can vaguely remember the last time you set me up I lost my house, my car, my dog, and my mind. So lets just me the trouble here is my car keys, my house keys, my dog, and can you grab the me the tire Iron over there and hit me real hard in the head. That should me time and money"

For some reason though she thinks I have a sense of humor that she thinks her friends may find attractive, and keeps trying to set me up.

Had my grandma hook me up with her caretaker 12 years ago figuring she was the perfect match...
It's funny how people see similiar characteristics for the potential couple through their eyes...
I do not believe that the setups work, because you think that your family would know best when in fact what they look for is what they see as best and not what your heart seeks!
That is why there is love of a child, love of a sister or parent and then there is romantic love...different categories

I think sometimes that they try to set people up with some one they would want as a brother or sister inlaw.

My other sister tried desperatly to set me up with a particular girl. They would arrange for her to come over for supper often, or to help my sister do some task. I remeber at one of these tasks. My sister was having a birthday party for one of the kids. I was living in my sisters basement at the time. My sister would keep popping her head into my room and tell me how great of a help this girl was and how good a wife she would make. Finally I said to her if you want her so bad you marry her. I never did go out with her mostly because I hate being set up. And that sister has since only tried a couple of set ups but has now stopped doing that after I told her when I find the right girl if I need her help I will ask for it.

My grandpa set me up with my x-husband...but I cant blaim him.I was the idiot who married the guy.He had us all fooled.I welcome meeting new people,most of the time my family can be good judges of charecter.

I have a girlfriend that trys to set me up all the time.Evidently she doesn't know what kinda guys I like, cuz she always sets me up with these dorky guys. The last one was really mind blowing...He was 41 and never been married and no kids. I told him I couldn't have kids anymore and ....poof he was gone. Didn't break my heart though he was not at all what I wanted. I like guys that are rough and ready. I told her 3 strikes your OUT!!! I'll do this one on my own.
