I just joined this site recently, so I can't say from experience that it's all that dead. I'll have to see what responses I get over the next few months or so. Patience is a good quality to have in cases like this.

After being on this (computer) for awhile, I am fairly convinced that you might as well try to find that special someone the old fashioned way, anyhow. In fact, that's how I would prefer it, being a hopeless romantic. More often than not the guy I e-mail doesn't even read it ("unread" shows up and just stays there...) Others I have asked tell me my profile is great, so that's not it. I don't post a photo because I'm a privacy freak, and hey, it's a small town. Friends have told me they'll keep their eyes and ears open; some know this one or that one and when the occasion arises will have us "meet". Lately it's not bothering me quite as bad--sure would be discouraged, to say the least, if a relationship turned out cruddy and needed to get out of it. I want this to be Right. The idea of this kind of 'shopping for a friend' rubs me the wrong way, anyhow. May I suggest that you get involved with a group of one kind or another (that matches your interests/hobbies, etc...) perhaps he'll be there. I am not NOT recommending the computer, but if what you say is true, well, it seems no guys are answering. Good Luck, dear. Really

Well im newish to the site, been on for about 2 weeks. Joined cause i will be coming back home... OREGON... and wanted to get in touch with some new people. Dont give up on us guys, we aint so bad. Although a native, I have lived in other areas and I can tell you that this is completely true. Is it in the water here, or what? There is a definite reservedness about people here (I notice it most in the guys) and I have known a good handful of women who have left Oregon because what they're looking for just wasn't here. (Most of them found it--one in Hawaii, one in France, another in Texas). So, a woman who's looking for that special guy will have to adjust her expectations because, once again, people do not change for other people. It's a pipedream. A myth. It doesn't happen.here i am

I already know it's not the norm, I know it may not be 'socially correct' or whatever, and I know some women are offended.......
But I also know that there are lots of young women out there who have an open mind when it comes to dating older men, even significantly older men, as long as they're treated with respect and as long as the chemistry is right.
So here I am, declaring that I'm one of those men who prefers the company of younger women who are not embarrassed or ashamed to admit that they have the same inclinations as mine.

As I nice guy I'd have to agree with you, a**hole are easier to find, because they're the ones going out looking for girls, where as the nice guys are just sitting around wanting and wishing they'd find a girl. I'm finally realizing the slight double standard that essential to the current style of dating, which hasn't really changed for centuries. Men need to be men and realize it if they ever want women, or even a woman, to be happy.

I agree with you. I am 68 years old and always go out of state for someone I am interested in. The ones I have found in Oregon very few know what it is to get a haircut on a regular basis or they want a woman 10-20 years younger than they are. The women usually outlive men by 7-10 years so why would a younger one want someone older. I have met a few nice one in Oregon but most are to young for me. The ones my age look and act like they are 10 years older than I am. Good luck in your search... I have found a man in Washington I am waiting to meet....hopefully we will connect. Wildrose

Only been here 5 months and I'm quickly drawing the same conclusion!Maybe there's something in the water! 
Not if you live in North East oregon.Where the police out number the people Its so small that if you have a beer with your lunch you well be pulled over. And bruth checked . And don`t even go to our rodeos as they are a larg meeting convenction for cops who are brought from all over the state to raise revanue from hard working people. yes Eastern oregon Is a Police state.
