It may seem that the principles of religions would produce unity, rather segregation, voilence and things of those nature. View from every concieveable angle, the sate of oneness is nowhere to be seen not because of critism e.c.t. or what i proclaim religions produces, but because at its core which many may not think.

Either Wedward has died, gone to heaven, and then decided to re-incarnate himself... and has returned as Beyondchocolate .... They write the same sort of weird style ... Or he simply overtanned himself at that nudist colony up in Linz, and just changed his profile.....?

Hi Let me translate for all - I hope I have got this right beyond chocolate tell me if I have - "you think that the principles of religion should bring about unity in mankind rather than segregation and violence, however you feel that everywhere this oneness and unity cannot be perceived, this is not because of the bi prodcuts of religion, but because of what lies at the core of religions......am I right? - well you know religion - its original meaning 'religere" meant to bind together and to set apart- so maybe one can distinguish between the core theoretical elements which I am told are very similar in different religions and therefore maybe bring us together and the auxiliary principles of religion that differ from relgion to religion and therefore may bring disunity. Hope I have been of some help however i must admit i dont really know very much about the subject

Okay, Webslinger is here, super-intelligence and all.

Now, I know everything there is to know about religion as pertaining to that form of worship where people huddle in certain buildings on the day when they supposed to be outside worshiping the Sun God or playing with orb-like objects, and where they get some sort of kick out of admitting all their weekly sins to some guy dressed in black with lace edgings while a choir sings and imaginary angels flap their wings, and little crowns are prepared in heaven for when the sinner eventually expires, or gets re-incarnated into some other higher being than what he is now, or into some improved circumstance.

No, no, hotchocolate, you got something wrong here ... where on earth did you get the idea that these Religions bind people together? We used to be bound together, long long ago, a few centuries ago.

But then we all got clever, and complicated, and somewhere along the line someone told us that we are the Main Species and that we Own this Earth and we are obliged to take Dominion over All Things .... and so we invented gunpowder and killed all the animals. And then we invented Pesticides and killed all the insects. And inbetween all this we invented Politicians, and we kill each other, or steal and lie to cheat each other. And now we even inventing New Genetically Altered Super Improved Food that has no seeds to perpetuate itself, or for insects or birds to eat. We even learning how to invent New People Parts using the Brain-Stems from Legally Aborted Babies. Everything we do is always Legal have you noticed?

But .... we have the solace of convincing ourselves that on that one day of the Sun God, if we truly repent of last week`s sins, then all is forgiven. Next week we can start again. Oh we can also Fast by not eating during daylight hours and then stuff ourselves between sunset and sunrise - it also helps to improve our image to God and makes him happy with us.

And if you realy poor, and don`t have shoes, or a place to bathe yourself, then of course, you cannot enter these holy buildings, because that is the One place where people like you to be well dressed and presentable.

If you have any personality deviations, caused by genetic engineering or pollution, then you are also forbidden entry to The Holy Places.

You must also, preferably, have a steady good income from legitimate employment so that you are able to donate to the Holy Coffers when their plastic bucket, or velvet draped begging box arrives in front of your face.

So.... I realy am confused why you even posted this question in the first place ..... churches have no interest in "unity of people" ... it`s each man or woman or child for themself.
