I think it's always better to get to know people better, but even then some are very good at pretending to be something they aren't..

Hhm...... I take people at face value until they prove otherwise. People can say alot .... but have no substance behind their words when it really comes down to it. Sometimes it can be easy to find out, but other times it can take time. Just as in real life - when you are getting to know a person.

I think as a general rule most people are honest (or at least they think they are being honest) in their profiles. There are some fakes, as with anything...you just have to go with your gut, and if something seems fishy, then it probably is.

yes.... then no........ i want to have a sense of someone first.... majority are not upfront and i had a friend tell me i should go to different sites (paid.) .. the point was well taken....... you get what you pay for... however.... lies are distributed whether paid or not... i wont waste my time or money.............. not desparate !! giving a shout out for CS... ty

I showed up here not so long ago. And my profile contains not one lie or piece of mis-information. However, I'm considering a shade more of in-between-the-lines additional truth. I had a date last weekend and our conversation consisted of something resembling COLD CASE FILES. SHE asks question. I answer question. Don't take me wrong, she was a delightful young lady. And I had a nice time ------ answering questions. But to avoid future extremes of this procedure, it may be well worth the exhausting investment of an additional 6% deep info. When I left, my eyes rolled around like two BB's in a saucer.

I do usually believe what is stated in profiles, but I figure out pretty fast if this is not the truth as soon as I start chatting with the person in question.
My profile is not a fake one and I am a honest person and I would believe that at least 80% to 90% of the guys online are honest..
There are always a few that just get a kick out of faked profiles or who are looking for something else than a relationship or an adventure.

It all depends.If I read in a profile .I am a caring person,I like to laugh and can be the best friend you will ever have and write this one a note and don't get an anwer in return,my beanie starts flashing and my antenna goes up.Go figure.
