I don't know much about divorce laws, but could she negotiate something higher if she could later demonstrate she helped make him who he is ?
I would think her payoff could be higher at the end of his mandate.

She is a politician in her own right. She used his name to make one for herself, maybe.

Never mistake theactions of someone in politics doing something gracefully like bowing out, thats not the way it works...especially in France and Italy.....what it means is someone's got some cast iron leverage to make them leave!
