I read some of the threads and the answers and I have a question:Why is there so much sarcasm in here,so much disappointment, why do people make serious threats ridiculous? They start well and after some time you just read jokes anymore.Maybe I am very naiv, maybe I just don't know the rules of this game-so you will tell me. Thanks

A lovely lady hobbled into the door today and got tangled up in the beads. As she unraveled herself ( with my assistance ) I noticed her foot was in plaster-- a large box of --- you guessed it chocolatoes was under her arm--- for me! --yay

---An unexpected thank you for merely phoning her a cab- early one morning peace applause yay

I think that many singles are indeed more sarcastic and have a more wicked sense of humour than those who are in stable relationships... it may not necessarily be the rule, just an observation.
Some become sarcastic with time because they are disappointed in their search for an ideal mate... there is also a possibility that they are they still single because they are too sarcastic and less positive than those who are in a happy relationshi.
Most people want to have a positive partner who will not pass sarcastic remarks every minute! Others just have a different sense of humour. For some their sarcasm is just a way to hide their real feelings. Many people want to give an impression of being very strong and confident, so they choose this mask. wink
Just something to think about confused

For the Brtish in particular, laughter is the best sort of medicine, sarcasm is a part of our humour, and everyone likes to smile.
How many serious threads can you post? How many subjects are there to talk about? The world is depressing enough at this moment, let's have some joy and laughter in our liveshandshake

Other than the rules and regulations posted by CS, everyone's free to post what they like, there's no limit to what is said.......or not said.
It's amazing the variety of posts that we do see here, and the depth of people's knowledge, however, if I don't like a thread I just leave, there's no reason to stay reading anything that annoys or depresses us.
How's Adelaide nowadays Waterdragon333?

Yes, I do enjoy British humour! Oscar Wilde was one of the first authors I read in the original when I was studying English in my teens... A lot of Russian classical literature is bitter satire as well! But I think that the thread was not about understanding humour but about the people's characters... it is OK when they are real and say what they mean and not just drop in to start a row! wave

It's just so nice to be nice, but being nice all the time can be terribly boring? conversing

Laughter is not only for the British the best medicin, everybody loves to smile, I am sure. My question was not about laughing, and sarcasm is not allways the best way to laugh anyway. Of course I can leave a threat if I don't like it-but thats not the point-I just realized that sometimes this sarcasm is more depressing and let me get the impression that some are very disappointed here and trying to let us feel that. Nobody wants allways to be nice-not because its boring but because its impossible.

Very well said, Donau! Laughter is healthy, even sarcastic, as long as it is positive and not deliberately aimed to hurt others. applause

I,m not always nice, in fact I,m not always anything.I can be cutting, gentle, brutal,sarcastic....I can be so many things, but I,m never sarcastic just to hurt someone.Everything I do is a response to what is happening to me, inside and out at any given time. I can justify everything to myself. I know who I am, I know what I am and I,m not unhappy with the result.

I was never talking of being offended-why should I? the worst thing I might feel is:I don't understand. But by your last words, dear Jacko, you tell me whats happening-You are making fun of each other and most of you know each other for quite a time,so when you are new you feel a bit from an other planet. i never wanted to doubt any of your opinions it was just the impression I got, reading the threats.I allways like to learn!
