dougiewaberdeen, UK52 Threads 629 Postswhen do you start putting the tree and decorations up? i saw someone near my work yesterday had already put decorations up (complete with trendy flashing lights on the window) and thought it's FAR too early to start all that . it means they'll have all their xmas stuff up for over 2 months which in my opinion is absolutely ridiculous. personally, i always seem to be the last guy in the whole uk to to start xmas these days. my tree normally goes up a couple of weeks before xmas day and everything comes down on the 3rd of january (the 2nd is a holiday in scotland to allow everyone to sober up lol). 3 weeks is long enough, never mind 2 bloody MONTHS!!

lol. don't get me wrong, i LOVE christmas time. people always seem so much friendlier and nicer than normal and it's great seeing the kids so excited in the lead up as well as watching them open presents on the day itself. i just think that it gets less special if people drag it on for so long

I love Christmas too and I usually put my tree up the first or second week on December and take them down the day after new years...BUT I will have my carols blaring soon!!!!!!!!

hey babsie i'm very well thanks. if you're anything like me you'll take some flowers to your mother's grave on xmas day, shed a few tears as you remember her then turn your attention to those around you who love you. be strong but don't be afraid to take some time out to remember. i'm there at my father every year cleaning his grave and making it look nice before i go off and start dinner. i find it's now a routine which relaxes me and makes me feel much better.

It's all a state of mind. Allow it to be the positive time of year it's ment to be. Not that it matters, but I put up my decorations the week of Thanksgiving. But with all the activities and things todo these days, it takes longer to get things taken care of so we start earlier and earlier. Can't change it so change with it :-)

NO WAYYYYYYYY!!!! you'll never get me to put a xmas tree up in november!! i'll just keep wondering about the sanity of the people who do thanks. there's so much to enjoy before xmas comes around.......halloween for example then in the uk we have guy fawkes where we have huge fires and firework displays. then at the end of november my little boy turns 4 (yay, i think). only after those will i even contemplate xmas. the world can change all it likes but i refuse to change with it.
