One line in a song by John Lennon has always stuck with me and, I guess, has served to inspire me at times:
"Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans."
I see it as a reminder to seize the moment, take time to recognize what is good in my life NOW and to appreciate what I have at this moment (in my life in general, in my family and friends, in the beauty all around) and to not always be searching for more.
In general, I find books and art and music to be inspiring and uplifting. I have a favorite statue...I have seen it a few times in a museum and I think it is the most beautiful work of art I have ever seen. I suppose it hasn't actually inspired me to do anything other than to return and view it again and again. But I DO appreciate the sheer beauty of it.

The book of Psalms never fails me. A kind stranger. Once in awhile music does it for me. People's quotes that have lived before me. Taoism does.
