I've studied the history of Astrology, but not extensive enough to know the hard facts.

thumbs up Good post! But I am with the two of you..I know of the signs and pretty good at detecting one's sign...we really shuld all know about it...it has been around forever..before "religion" they relied on the heavens to give them answers for all things around them...

Yep..have a new quest now...most who have studied it start in with the numerology thing...I tried but I can't follow that one!

Did you know that the Ancient Mayans predicted that the world as we know it will come to an end on December 12, 2012? Freaky, but look at the world around us and how everything is going!

Yes, and that scares me a little because I know that the Mayan Indians used Astrology extensively and were able to gain many positives from it..Many of the things they left behind are still true today.

Maybe as a part 2 of this question should be "Did the Mayan Indians add to or were they one of the first to use it?"(Sun sign Astrology)

I think that there may be some credibility to astrology but not in the sense of what we read in the daily newspapers.
They are sweeping generalisations of a subject which holds far greater complexity.

For instance, the alignment of all the planets at the moment of our birth are taken into account by astrologers and I would even reason beyond this to take account of the alignment of planets at the moment of conception - but none is proven fact as even twins may be quite different temperamentally.

I need more proof but having said this, some of the detailed reports I have looked at of myself are pretty accurate. This could be the result of having read astrology books for years though - like many things, we have no proof so the long and short of it for me is - I just dont know laugh

Yeah, the stuff in the newspaper is for entertainment only. Though they are takin from the timeline of a particular sign..they are merely a glimpse into the Sun sign only. No merit for the rest of one's birth or natal chart.

Yes I know about that.. and it has also been proven by sience as well.. what it has to do with is every 26 thousand yrs the earth is at it's closest to the sun.. and things will begin to really heat up on earth..

Woohoo drivenbysoundwave Congrats on your astrology threadwine

Nope, I don't know the history of Astrology. I only know that I'm a typical Arien in many ways.

I don't really read the horoscopes in the daily papers and magazines though. I think they just put the same thing for every sign but jiggle the words around a bit to make each one look different laugh

I like chinese astrology too and am a typical Ox cool

Hi Zellarrone1,

I was hoping to see you here. Maybe we can get a serious discussion going when someone with some knowledge can join us.

Good..I had a feeling I could count on you. As I mentioned earlier, my Mother is an Aries, so I've known that particular sign longer than any. Other than my two brothers who are both Cancer.

If it's 11am there now, we are 6 hours apart. It's 5am here.

If you will be around at 8pm your time, I'm game for 2pm my time.

I'll be here then wave Even if no one else joins in your astrology discussion at least you and I will be able to discuss it laugh

OOH, I'm not too keen on cancerians. I find them very emotionally intense. Clashes with my Arien "happy go lucky attitude".

Although, looking on the good side of cancerians. I do find them to have a caring side especially to their families and friends.

Right on about the Cancerians. My older brother (who I still look up to) is a triple Cancer.

Thanks..Well, I was once a skeptic. BIG skeptic. Wouldn't even discuss it with anyone. Then, years later a friend caught me off guard and slipped in the Sun sign characteristics of Aquarius (which I am) during a phone call, and it floored me. I couldn't or didn't have anything to say. They knew how I felt. but the information was right on. Right then and there the skeptic became the believer..and that was just my Sun sign characteristics. There is SO much more to any and every chart.

I'm interesed in the origins of Astrology. I hope to get some insight.
