solitare: " do feel Tampa raises some valid points. From my observations, for all the spouting about posters having the right to their own opinion (which I believe is correct), when the shoe is on the other foot there are often attacks made on someone attempting to defend their stance on certain issues. And, it seems to me that there is such a desperation to be right that the thread then becomes merely a vehicle for back and forth arguing the toss about who is right and who isn't, totally deflecting from discussion on the original topic..." quotedAbsolutely correct Rose. when one dares to post under such conditions the sort of become "Those who post among vultures" nevermind about any 'dancing with wolves' %D
I think I fall into that category at times but I have gotten better. I learned from my "enemy" who wasn't really my enemy at all just a person with different views. But I do always try to learn and grow. The first thing is keeping an open mind and being honest with myself, knowing that I don't have to be perfect. I make mistakes, I learn. I just LOVE being human. the more I accept myself, the more I accept others and the more ALIVE I become. It's called VITALITY! I see the good in myself too.

tampa1: I as many others have been here for quite some time, it's nice to see that only those who are regulars seem to get any response. Kind of makes me wonder why I am even here.
It's funny when you really look at it 20 threads about the GD thing and some fall prey to every one of them. And Gilly man give it a rest, we are not children. Your ideas spark no interest with the vast majority of us.
I like to come here for some interesting topics and conversation, but man that is pretty hard to find these days.
Feel free to tell me to F off if you wish, but man, get a grip people.......
I dont really care if get a response from people here or what.... but I love it when they will.
been here for quite a while and I gained few friends tho despite the loneliness
lusciousmile: You insulted Bnatural because he gave you a suggestion on how to feel more comfortable around here, yeah, that makes you such a victim, and please don't quote and whine to me about spelling, do it with the people who correct you. I've never had a conversation with you, if i did, i would remember.
I think the old timers know what makes them comfortable around here and don't need advice. Cliques have almost always been a problem around here and have always been protested.
I found some info on cliques and I find it funny what it says about the research on it. It fits with some of the mentality on this forum. I see cliques no different than I see people in gangs. They can't atand on their own and need their little group to protect them.
Effects of cliques Members of a clique give one another a type of social support, and that social support can take the form of social development, especially in the case of children and adolescents. Inclusion in a clique can give individuals peer acceptance, whereas exclusion from a clique can hinder peer acceptance and damage an individual’s self-image and self-confidence. Much of the existing research on cliques focuses on elementary-age children and their social networks, and emphasizes the popularity individuals gain from inclusion vs. exclusion, and being in a high-status clique vs. a low-status clique.[

Who is an old timer and what does it matter?
An old timer is someone who has been around here alot longer than most. I think they know what makes them comfortable around here.

May I add that it can also be someone who understands where some of the other members are coming from and has some familiarity with their humour and maybe even their life outside of CS.
