Do you believe in any of the following? If so, can you explain why?

Tarot Cards...

Palm and Face Readings...

Magic, Voodoo, and Spells...

Fairies...

Faith Healings...

Astrology...

Psychic Medium Readings...

The reason why I disbelieve in any superstition is simple: it violates the theory of the Natural Order one theory which is responsible for all of our observations, our science, our demonstrations. The idea that matter must follow absolute laws of physics and cannot stray from them.

The reason why I do not believe any myth is simple: it violates the theory of the Natural Order.

Consider that there is another element to the natural order, that science is only now beginning to explore. I believe in these things, but for reasons very different than you might presume.

In 2004 a documentary film was released that really made me rethink what I thought I know, here is a synopsis of the film taken from the website:

WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW?! is a new type of film. It is part documentary, part story, and part elaborate and inspiring visual effects and animations. The protagonist, Amanda, played by Marlee Matlin, finds herself in a fantastic Alice in Wonderland experience when her daily, uninspired life literally begins to unravel, revealing the uncertain world of the quantum field hidden behind what we consider to be our normal, waking reality.

She is literally plunged into a swirl of chaotic occurrences, while the characters she encounters on this odyssey reveal the deeper, hidden knowledge she doesn’t even realize she has asked for. Like every hero, Amanda is thrown into crisis, questioning the fundamental premises of her life – that the reality she has believed in about how men are, how relationships with others should be, and how her emotions are affecting her work isn’t reality at all!

As Amanda learns to relax into the experience, she conquers her fears, gains wisdom, and wins the keys to the great secrets of the ages, all in the most entertaining way. She is then no longer the victim of circumstances, but she is on the way to being the creative force in her life. Her life will never be the same.

The fourteen top scientists and mystics interviewed in documentary style serve as a modern day Greek Chorus. In an artful filmic dance, their ideas are woven together as a tapestry of truth. The thoughts and words of one member of the chorus blend into those of the next, adding further emphasis to the film’s underlying concept of the interconnectedness of all things.

The chorus members act as hosts who live outside of the story, and from this Olympian view, comment on the actions of the characters below. They are also there to introduce the Great Questions framed by both science and religion, which divides the film into a series of acts. Through the course of the film, the distinction between science and religion becomes increasingly blurred, since we realize that, in essence, both science and religion describe the same phenomena.

The film employs animation to realize the radical knowledge that modern science has unearthed in recent years. Powerful cinematic sequences explore the inner-workings of the human brain. Quirky animation introduces us to the smallest form of consciousness in the body – the cell. Dazzling visuals reinforce the film’s message in an exciting, powerful way. Done with humor, precision, and irreverence, these scenes are only part of what makes this film unique in the history of cinema, and a true box-office winner.

There is also a book available with the same title. I haven't wrapped my brain around the subject well enough to explain it thoroughly. I really don't know bleep. Maybe you will be curious enough to check it out.

I believe in them to a certain extent.
I'm not about to rush to the city and get a palm reading, but I do believe that some of us have an innate ability to "connect" to that which others cannot.

In general, I tend to believe in something unless it can be disproven.

It took me some time to lower my guard reguarding the use of tarot cards but my ex girlfriend was for a long time a closet case tarot reader, she thought I would hate it or something but after she "came-out" she showed me a surprisingly steady run of accurate insights, measurements, past and foretellings. I don't know alot about tarot still, but she was way beyond entertainment indeed.

im not superstitious at all! not saying that i dont believe some psychics to be accurate etc, i'm sure some are. but superstitions like Triskaidekaphobia (google that one!) or not walking under ladders are a load of old cobblers to me!

Well I am an atheist and i don't believe in life after death or ghosts etc etc, however when I was 19 years old I went to see a woman with a friend who loved to visit fortune tellers, and she, without the use of cards, crystal ball or tea leaves just sat and talked to me. I entered the room determined not to talk too much and inadvertently reveal anything about myself but before I sat down she asked me if I had been suffering from headaches, and I should start wearing glasses again! Now, I had worn glasses since i was 4 years old but stopped in my teens because I hated them and she was quite right, I had been suffering from headaches which stopped when I started again shortly after our meeting.

Later she told me things about my new husband which I did not know, that his father had committed suicide (which I knew) by gas (which I did not know) and when I told my husband he cried and told me the whole story which he had denied and kept secret for many years because he was just 13 years old when it happened.

She also knew that I'd just had a miscarriage but I would soon have first a daughter then a son shortly after......I did!

It was amazing and I try not to think about it because it goes against my basic beliefs about these things.

Strange but true.
