Konigsberg: Claire said " Oo I'm an organ donor.. and a marrow doner.. and I give blood 3 times per year." Syringe in a VEIN?! Nooooooooooo! *shivers* Well, Claire you are a brave one. Everytime they take my blood for tests i faint. (thanks Spitrits it doesn't happen often) My liver gonna be the best life gift to someone .... Have never had any kind of alcohol (not even a pop) in my life .... no medication ( just sometimes headache pills) .... it makes me feel great that when i will die parts of me will go on living in somebody's body. I donating everything I have after I am dead, except my eyes .... Gotta see Devil with my own eyes when I arrive to Hell.
nope I'm not brave.. I don't like it either. But I'm just trying to do my part.
If I or my friends or family (or whoever) needed blood (or whatever)... then I would want them to have it.
SOMEONE has to give it.. and if everyone wimped out because of the needles (sorry.. not having a go AT ALL).. then there would BE no donors.
Last time i had a syringe in my vein, my nephew payed for it! I held his hand tight and screamed like a mad woman!!!
It's a harrowing experience to say the least!!!! I once told this doctor who was hitting on me that i found syringes thrilling, he brought a pack of them and saline on our next date!No i didn't use them!
Can you belive that those drugies sticking a syringe in their veins ( anywere) at least 2 times a day
lol that's a quite unusual date present. I hope you are not with him anylonger

DizzyDi: your forgetting the lie down claire
Sadly I am to old to be a bone marrow donor now (once past 40)
Oo.. well..
* age 18 - 40 : health and circumstances permitting, you remain on the Register until your 60th birthday, so don't be put off joining if you are close to 40
* in general very good health * weight over 51kg / 8st * have a BMI of less than 35 * women must not be pregnant * women with children under the age of 12 months cannot join the register or donate marrow during that time
FishingMTgirl: What an awesome testimonial!!!! I am so happy to hear this, thank you for sharing. I called my mother and sister and asked just by chance to see if they are organ donors and they couldn't remember. I was like Mommmm, you know what kind of situation I might be heading with my daughter and you don't know about you? So, she went to look and yes she was. But it made me more aware that people forget if they are or aren't. Or assume they are when they aren't. Thanks for the friendly reminder
It is also important to give blood. Especially people with rare blood types. There is a higher chance of survival for the person recieving the organ if there is blood to match. My daughter had the same protruding stomach that your daughter has. The scar on her stomach from the transplant is in the shape of a rainbow. I tell her that the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is her life.
I am an organ donor and have told everyone in my family. I learned the hard way when my fiance died that it doesn't matter if you have signed your licence to be a donor. It is up to the next of kin whether it comes to pass. If next of kin says no....there will be no donation, therefore if you want to be a donor, please make sure you let your family know about your wishes.

Thats right.. I'm on all the official registers .. and have those credit card things with it all on. But it still has to be passed by your NOK.
