Zellarrone1: Best place for the people with unattractive accents is the "just be

friends box"..

They are no good for anything else, just make sure you put a big

golden padlock on the box to make sure they've no chance of

escaping

You would use gold for the padlock?!?laugh

Zellarrone1: Oooh, I know what you mean about Finnish accents, I heard Mika Hakkinen being interviewed once. But, he was trying to speak in english so maybe that's why it sounded a bit weird.

Years ago I spoke to 2 guys that I liked online, one was from Texas and one from Louisiana. I soon fell out of online love with them after hearing their accents or drawl or whatever it was, they spoke so slow and boring I was getting very annoyed by end of the phonecalls cos I'm such an hyper person and speak so fast that no one can ever understand a word I say anyhow. I really can't stand slow accents

Is this Mika the gay musician? I knew that name was finnish (only knew his first name till now). Hahaha. Not my kind of music anyway so i don't know anything about him.

laugh

I'll take a chinese or west african accent any time over a scandinavian one.
There are some Kenyan accents i can't stand like from my own 'tribe' kikuyu. The typical one from the village is just awful.

help yawn

Nooo, Mika Hakkinen was a f1 racing driver from about 10 years ago. I forgot about Mika the musician, I've not heard him laugh

Yeah, I forgot about chinese, that's not a bad accent. I'm in the chinese takeaways so often I'm surprised I can't speak chinese even better than they can!

Speaking of F1 drivers, Kimi Räikkönen has the most awful accent and sentence construction known to man! After all those years basking in stardom, he still can't speak proper english.

lusciousmile: Zell, why do you do this to me?

I don't mind an american accent, it's a scandinavian one that doesn't do it for me.... A finnish accent is especially annoying!!!!!!!!!!!

Good idea on application requirements! Wouldn't it be perfect if they had information on accents next to people's profiles?

Well scandinavia covers maney countries and languages....in my experience honey men love it!!!

As a dialectician who can generally assume any accent after hearing it spoken a few times, I find accents themselves to be fascinating. It's the people behind some of the accents that torque my cork.

And I've never really considered American to be an accent. With so much diversification in this country, there are many accents and dialects and I can think of no less than half a dozen in the Southern U.S. alone - From the twangy, quick spoken Scots Irish based dialect of Northern Appalachia/East Tennessee/East Kentucky hills to the deep, broad, rolling "deep South" brogue of Southern Georgia/Mississippi.

Even in my home state of Kansas, where we have virtually no discernible accent (maybe that's what American sounds like?) there are local variations - From "dem kotdamn Volga Chermans" in and around Ellis county in Northwest Kansas to the half Arkie/half Okie mix in Southeast Kansas.

To paraphrase Dorielle, as long as speech is intelligible I am willing to talk with nearly anyone. I might even start sounding like them after a few minutes. It's the person behind the accent that makes me decide whether I want to converse with them.

thumbs up

I'm glad I've not heard his then if it's even worse than Mika Hakkinens.

I have to admit I stopped watching F1 about 9 years ago when Jacque Villeneuve lost his blonde hair and started dating Danni Minogue laugh
