sixty years ago today my grandma and grandpa got married. it is rather amazing to me. sixty years with the same person. my grandma was 14 when she got married. in the las three years my grandpa's health has declined. he has been diabetic for 20 years and is now in a wheelchair. my grandma takes care of him each and everyday. that is a true test of love. someday i would like to find a love like that. i learned a lot from being around them. so i would like to ay congratulations!!!! maybe their secret is getting married on groundhog day? but im betting on true love.
My parents have been married 49 years and still show so much love and respect for each other. Dad still opens doors for mom and gives her the most romantic cards on holidays, mom still caters to dads finicky tastes in food, they still hold hands when they walk down the street. It's a 2 edged blade growing up with this kind of example, you know what a relationship can be... and don't settle for anything less! Congrats to you're grandparents and to you for having such a great example in your life.
I come from a really strange family, I have 13 pairs of aunts and uncles all have been happily married for over 40 years, 42 cousins happily married for over 15 years. The only divorces in my family have been my sister and myself...where did we go wrong???
It is indeed lovely to hear of such long and happy marraiges. I started the divorces in my family but then again divorce is still relatively new here and because of our religion many people stayed together for life but were miserable.
dcj22: I would love to able to have a long and happy marriage like that. I think that is an incredible achievement.
At my age and with all of the years wasted being afraid of marriage, I'll be lucky to have half that many.
Maybe if we count them in dog years.Congratulations to them. I'm glad you realize that you got quite a special gift by being able to watch and feel that love all of your life.
Congrats. Since we are at it,my Parents got married in September 1940. I am amazed sometimes. Didn't always looked like they were going to stay together that long.
Dang, that makes me an Old Boy,came along a year later
