pointsouth: Man, you're putting me on the spot with that one. Yes, it's true - and I think some people think I'm a bit disturbed for it. But I admit it's not just Pink Floyd - I do it with rock n roll titles all the time. However, PF tops the list...

yay a kindred soul! i do it with other rock bands too. so name some other bands you like? my top 10 would be Pink floyd obviously, led zeppelin, jimi hendrix, the doors, the who, rolling stones, grand funk railroad, lynrd skynrd, bob dylan, david bowie, queen, the cure

i think that's more than 10, i got tons of others but these top the list

Well you pretty much covered my favourites but I have to add a couple more like Deep Purple, Rush, Blue Oyster Cult...actually once I get started its hard to quit. Lynyrd Skynyrd (I'm a Southerner after all) and Pink Floyd are the two main ones though.

Yeah we're out there. This is my first day at CS and I just thought I'd fill some "empty spaces" maybe take some "time" in an otherwise dull day. Just "one of my turns" as I get "lost for words" but I "keep talking" cos I've got "high hopes" that I'll "take it back." "It's a miracle" that I'm not "amused to death" - does this all make "perfect sense"? Maybe I should express it in dollars and cents - i.e. "money." I better "run like hell" before I get "comfortably numb." ~Cheers.

Is it just me or am I the only one that can't stand to hear "Money" or "Stairway to Heaven" anymore.
Two of my favorite bands but I've heard these two songs enough to last me a lifetime.
WTF is it with radio nowadys? I miss the days of ROCK 106 Spokane and the like, where they played "B" sides and obscure tracks from popular bands.head banger

Hey Bro,

You are right - they play the songs to death. That is why I never listen to radio anymore. I really want to - I want to support rock radio - I don't want rock radio to die - but I can't stand hearing the same songs played to death. I have about 30,000 songs in my office and so the same songs don't get played over and over (well at least not the ones you're likely to hear on the radio). The bottom line is I can still enjoy hearing Money or Stairway to Heaven. But, alas, the days of album rock are over and the world is not better for it.

Where were you when I was in Mississippi? All I heard was country and gospel on the majority of the stations when I was there.

Can you pick up any Dallas/Ft.Worth radio stations? When I was in Oklahoma that's what I listened to all the time. They have a great appreciation for rock and roll. Everything under the sun, just turn the dial!head banger

I was at the northern tip of the state and not for long. The majority of the time I've spent in the US has been in Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Hawaii and Washington state. All great in their own ways, as are the rest of the states.

I hooked my stereo up to cable 20+ years ago when the net wasn't available. Best radio I've ever heard in my life!!
The net has some great stations that you can listen to while at home but I hate to say I've never heard anything like Rock 106 for variety. head banger Too bad they don't wxist anymore.

You know - maybe they would still exist if the music being produced today was of the same caliber as back then - just MHO.

Pink Floyd is awesome to be sure. Check out the DVD" Live at Pompeii" . The Box set called "Shine On".Before they where Pink Floyd they where called Sigma 6, then Tea Set, ,then the Megadeaths. They have 2 cd's that are from 1967 which has some great stuff, Obscured from Clouds has a very 60's sound to it. Stanley Krubrick wanted to use music from Atom Mother Heart in the movie A Clockwork Orange but Pink Floyd wouldnt allow it. The music and book that comes with this box set is great. However if you havent seen the DVD "Live at Pompeii" you are missing something awesome.

I love Meddle...the first 'real' Pink Floyd album...full of brooding soundscapes and menace.bowing

Fave? Wish You Were Here...it just has a hold on me, along with Meddle.

Dark Side is magnificent...one of the great albums. Moments of such beauty in Breath and Great Gig In The Sky.

The Wall...disjointed in places, it's still full of great musical ideas.

An awesome group...nobody like 'em...totally unique.bowing
