FlowerOfTheSnow: Hi Marushka!!!

Hi Flow!hug I rememeber you and your kindness from my "first episode" on CS, which was when you were still single wink

One more ridiculously funny and macabre story:

Couple months ago I seriously perforated the tympanic membrane in my ear, by a cosmetic stick...doh Don't ask me how exactly it happened - it was an example of amazing absent-mindness of me... I was considered to have an operation, so I found myself in a hospital, on a consultation. Breaking shame, I said my story to a doctor. She listened, smiled at me and said something like this:

"Oh, it's nothing. Last week we had a woman here, who liked knitting. And one day she was seating next to an open window and knitting. At some point her ear itched, so she started scratching it by a knitting needle.
And then the wind blowed, suddenly opened the window and the window pushed the needle inside of her skull..."
wow wow

Well, that doctor, me and my friends later found it funny, the amazing bad luck she had.
But for sure it's black humour, which that thread is also about, isnt' it?

Manolito: ... you did say something about a story of your own that you were going to share with us?

This is embarassing ..... I guess its because I`m getting so old or something?
After posting this thread I had to rush off for some emergency or other (cant remember what it was - but something important) .... and when I thought about this thread again ..... I could not remember what the story was I wanted to tell you!

I am wracking my brains every moment of the day, except for last night when I was partying with the village folk ..... and still can`t remember it.

But just keep going ..... it will come back to me sometime, I hope!cheers

Once upon a time on the tiny island of Gozo, Queen Smoky came to visit........and, one day, while sunning herself on the balcony a very strange thing happened - she was absentmindedly scratching her ear with an old knitting needle she just happened to have handy for this kind of 'emergency' itch removal thingy when, to her surprise, the wind banged the door closed and she found that she was................

In the interim - The worst thing happened to me last night!
My hot-water bottle died! It slowly leaked its hot water out, till it was exhausted, but by then it was too late. By the time I awoke this morning it was completely dead!

When my grandkids got up for school, they found my mattress leaning against the radiator, sheets and duvet draped to dry. The 7yr old asked "Wot happened?.... Did you wet the bed?"

I had to convince them it was not my fault ...had to show proof of the dead water-bottle!uh oh

Still not the Original - but when you get to my ancient age you just got so many stories stored it takes time to get them sorted .......

This one is sort of between funny and this side of macabre - or just scary of the dangerous type.

Shortly before leaving SA for CH, my son, his wife, little son and new baby moved to my farm and lived in an apartment on the property.

My chickedns were being pestered by "Egg eating" snakes at that time, and other harmless sorts of snakes would prowl around regularly, and I had to be continuously assuring my daughter-in-law of their harmlessness.

I was cooking in the main house and his wife came over to chat ..... "There is this realy cute snake that lives under our bed" said she, "He comes out every day to drink water at the dogs bowl and then goes back inside ... he is realy a pretty snake ... he has these fancy diamond shapes on his skin, sort of grey and browny gold and greeny and shiny.....Been there for about 2 weeks now, I think he is getting quite tame..."

"Aaaaaaagghhhhhh .....I think you could be describing something rather lethal". I called my son from the workshop and told him. Arming himself with a huge scythe and other implements we went to investigate. When we got the snake out ...... Yes it was a Puff Adder! One of the most venemous snakes in SA. It is a fearless snake and not slow to bite - and when it bites, you could eventually lose the limb it bites! Their little son of 4 would probably have been a victim! or one of the dogs, or anyone getting in its way.

Nasty Fellow to have around.
Relative of the Gaboon Viper.
Had a Fang of one of them, long ago, must have been about 2cm in length.
The Snake was about 1.5 m long.
The Puffadders they had were only about 50 cm long.
But the Caretakers were extremely cautious around them, especially the Gaboon Viper.
It was amazing how fast the Venom acted.
They fed them live Rats sometimes during private Shows.
These people and the Children must have had a special Guardian Angel protecting them.uh oh blues wave

Manolito: Ok, once again, you asked for it, so here it is:

PART I

I was almost 17 years old, driving my big custom made 1400cc Intruder Bike (google it) home from the pub...

Young and stupid as i was, i was completely drunk and had a mental certificate that guaranteed me complete ownage of the full width of the city road. Must have been around 4:30 am...

Leaning the huge bike at 120-130 Km/hour, it didnt take long untill at this S type road bend, a taxi driver was foolish enough to think that he had the RIGHT to be in the same patch of asphalt as this young road warrior... (ok, i was in what others would describe as "his" lane, but that doesnt count, right?)

Well, a long story cut short, i remember exactly and with which body part i hit all of them 14 5inch metal poles they had by the side of the road, luckily most of them while still clinched on the bike... When the dust settled, i remember getting up (the taxi driver had stoped and came to my aid), dusting off what parts of my clothes where still hanging loosely from my frame and asking the STUNNED, SPEACHLESS man to help me move the carcaus of the dead bike from the middle of the road so no one would hit it and destroy it - as if it could be any more destroyed.

I was in complete ignorance of the damage i had suffered - you dont realise it untill some time has gone by in these situations because of the shock mode your body goes in to withstand the pain: I had a broken knee, hand, ribs and Jaw (in 2 places) and i was in a complete mess. Of course, the good man could see all this and he would just stand there staring at me, trying to find the suitable words that just didnt want to come out of his mouth...

I turned to him eventually (after some other passerby stoped and "helped me" move the bike to the side of the road) and noticing his still stunned expression, i asked him what was wrong with me. He mumbled something about my forehead and i instictively moved my hand to it, touched it, felt it to see if there was anything wrong. Everything *felt in place* up there and i was wondering what this guy was staring at...

It wasnt untill i had finished feeling my forehead and started lowering my hand when i realized that the poor man was so confused that instead of saying "Chin" he said "forehead",

There it was, but i could feel it with my hand a couple of inches lower than it should be... Also, a bit "loose", lol. By now, i was starting to suspect that something was definatelly wrong, but the pain hadnt made its appearance yet. So at his proposal to take me to the hospital, i insisted that i was very much ok and he should just take me home; i would wash up, get a good sleep and i would be fine. So stunned was this guy, that he actually took me home instead of neverminding my nonsense and taking me to the hospital!

But, by the time we were just outside my house, i could now realise that i couldnt get out of the taxi because neither my left foot or arm could move on my will... So i told him he should better take me to the hospital to have a little check up...

20 points you get for the intruder and that's in one go!

to the rest of the story I can relate perfectly well.. a bike is part of you, perhaps even more part of you than your soul and the first immediate reaction is checking on that soulmate (the bike) that for some obscure and unexplained (whatever other people might say) reason has somehow let you down

you seem to have an angel looking after you, may it never grow fat!

After that we seemed to have an influx of them b-----d`s!

My Mom came for a week-end visit to the farm - and she is TERRIFIED and Totally PARANOID about snakes. So, what happened?

I served tea out on the back lawn enclosed area. I came back inside because I was baking cakes. While busy, my grandson of 4 is jabbering something about a frog, a frog, a frog........... So I decide to humour him and go see his "frog".

..... and there, right next to the chair my Mom is sitting in, is a Frog ...... in the jaws of ANOTHER Puff Adder! Mother is oblivious with her eyes closed (she is also deaf - luckily). Call my big capable son - kills Puffy.

Mother eventually wakes up.... "What a lovely peaceful place this is" says she. Phew! Lucky she cant quite make out what her great-grandson is telling her, thinks he is describing his train set... just smiles happily and says "Yes is that so?".

Okay, to finish my snake stories - The next and last Puff Adder tried to attack the lawnmower and got his head chopped off.

Aaahhhh! I just remembered it! The original......

I was thinking about this friend of mine in SA ... a pretty morbid type of female, always with a "oh woe is me" attitude to life. I asked her why she was always so pessimistic......

She said "When I was a teenager, my first boyfriend and I went on a family picnic to a river ... his family and my family."... very strict Afrikaans parents (Afrikaans parents were the strictest - very old fashioned about virtue). "Well - we were allowed to lie on a blanket together - and then he got up to go swim - and he got taken and eaten by a crocodile".

I just stared at her in amazement, how she told the story in such a matter of fact way, and said "Realy?!" (Crocodile attacks take place very dramatically - with much thrashing, twisting, turning, blood and gore flying everywhere!.. till it drags its victim down into its lair in the riverbank to rot and soften before eating).

"Yes, and I never had another boyfriend - cause I just bring bad luck - even my house burned down - and I know something bad will always happen".

Sorry, its not a spectacular story, I just thought it weird.dunno sad flower

Last I heard from her ... she was training to become a Bereavement Counsellor ..... Sheeesh, I feel sorry for any folk getting counselling from her! The`ll probably end up committing suicide!
