that had just posted and now this

HARARE (Reuters) - Zimbabwe's ruling party lost control of parliament on Wednesday and the opposition said it had also defeated veteran leader Robert Mugabe in a presidential vote.

Official figures said the combined opposition had taken 105 seats in the 210 seat parliament with one going to an independent. Mugabe's ZANU-PF has so far taken 94.

The mainstream Movement of Democratic Change faction of Morgan Tsvangirai said he had won 50.3 percent of the presidential vote and Mugabe 43.8 percent according to its own tallies of results posted outside polling stations.

MDC Secretary General Tendai Biti said this absolute majority was enough for outright victory but Tsvangirai would accept a second round runoff against Mugabe "under protest".

Doctors in Zimbabwe are advising people not to get sick because of drug shortages and a lack of functioning equipment.

As the southern African country's economy collapses, a laboratory at a main 1,000-bed hospital has virtually shut down.

X-ray materials, injectable antibiotics and anticonvulsants have run out.

Emergency resuscitation equipment is out of action and patients needing casts for broken bones need to bring their own plaster.

In a country with one of the world's worst Aids epidemics, medical staff do not have protective gloves.

What a novel way to tackle overstretched health services everywhere! Just don´t get sick folks! doh

The aids there could well be so bad, because Robert Mugabe denies that it exists at all in Zimbabwe.

Very wise statement that ... Tis not advised to get sick when there is no treatment available. As the old saying says ..... "What doesn`t kill will fatten" - So its a case, sort of, of the fittest will survive - a sort of natural culling system?

What I realy admire is how the Leaders of Zim are in this with their people - very brave souls those - you gotta admire them. They are holding of all european interventions and going it alone.

Maybe its because all these new-fangled health-aids are of european manufacture? and they never had them before, so they not gonna have them now?dunno confused sad flower
