Let me tell you from experience:
1) You can NOT be sure the picture is the person - ever!
2) you need to communicate - start with emails and see what you have in common.
3) if on site emails are working well, someone need to give out a phone number - I recommend a cell as that will change and you can block if the relationship doesn't work out.
4) if after 2 months or a time both of you are comfortable with, you should meet. I have seen ppl back out at the last minute, so try to get him to visit you if it is long distance.
5) NOW you if someone is seeking a LTR and if they are the person in the picture. You also should know at this time if they are the person in their profile.
Hope this was of some help...I am seeking a LTR and since I have just come to this site, will be patient about it.
