and am comforted knowing you now play in the gardens of paradise.
When I close my eyes, I see the light from your contagious smile,
and know heaven is now a brighter place.
I feel your gentle arms around my waist,
and pray you will return to hug me in my dreams.
I see your eyes so full of unconditional love and forgiveness,
and I will remember them when I am losing faith.
I feel the warmth of your spirit, so full of hope & wonder,
and it will comfort me from the coldness of this world.
You were here in the morning, and the river had claimed you by afternoon,
but you will always be with me in my heart.
It seemed just another day,
kids running in and out for a drink and a snack,
and I will remember never again to take any moment or person for granted.
I will honor you by always remembering the lessons you taught me
during the brief time you touched my life.
