I recently received an email from a friend with an attachment with some 30 pictures of fast food stalls in Beijing, one after another stretching to the horizon. There were fried black scorpions, fried silkworms, fried dung beetles, fried snakes, fried grasshoppers, dog-liver and vegetable stew, goats lungs with chillies, dog-brain soup.... etc. etc. etc. all in brilliant technicolour. They looked great. But my first reaction was a bit aaaaaarrrrgghhh!!
Maybe, one day I will go to China and try some of these things. Perhaps the sound that'll come out of me will be aaaaahh!
That is also perhaps why, despite not being roman catholic, they have such stupendous fecundity!
