Do you believe it will be possible in the near future to run vehicles on water? The technology is already available.

Are you talking here about this new corn's oil thingy(forgot the name for it)..which caused a major food disaster and prices up in many countries...and it reguires something like 1600 gallons of water to profuce 1 gallon of oil dunno

No. Not in the near future. To split the hydrogen molecules away from the oxygen molecules requires energy; I do not believe we have come up with a practical solution yet for doing this 'in situ'

I just had a brilliant idea though! If solar panels could be used to provide enough energy to do this then maybe your car could convert water into its component parts while the car is standing idle - or with electricity from the mains.........

In Iceland they already run a fleet of public buses on hydrogen; the energy source for producing the hydrogen from the water is a plant powered by thermal energy from their 'volcanic' natural resources.

Electric powered vehicles are the way forward. Electric vehicles are 2,000 more efficent than combustion engines. Electricity can be generated from a multitude of sources - including pedals fitted inside the car........... this way you can peddle like crazy while waiting at traffic lights to boost your batteries and get fit at the same time!

We should have roads designed so that you can freewheel downhill most of the time and then go into a large hydrolic lift to regain height and potential energy. These lifts can be powered by many thingies - in Switzerland, for example, the lift could be powered by cows, with bells round their necks, of course attached to a wheel that they walk round. This means the cows get fit too - so all living thingies benefit.

Yes, we should harness gravity and have vehicles that do not need motors at all - then we can freewheel downhill enjoying the scenery and causing no pollution.

I am a genius.

Thank you.

One Problem.
You never get as much Energy out as you stick in,not even with Swiss-Cows,in Spite of our SUPERIOR Swiss Efficiencywink rolling on the floor laughing wave

hmmmm..... how do these nuclear reactor thingies work then? tongue

ok - so you have the energy trapped inside 'stuff' - you need to use energy to release that energy..... as long as you get more energy out than you put in you're onto a winner - even though you fail to use all the energy etc............ cows should be recycled - let me give my mate GW a call...........

cows = terrorists

whoops - that'll upset the hindus..............

oh, does that matter?

dunno

The Hydrogen-Technology has been around since the Seventies, and could be applied to our conventional Internal Combustion Engines with relatively little alterations,Gasoline Engines that is. Would have to use the same Equipment as when burning Propane or other Gases in an Engine, with some modifications owing to the Higher Temperatures when burning Hydrogen.conversing wave

No Awesome darling.!!!!
I never mentioned corn oil, almond oil, cod liver oil, gear oil, olive oil or extra virgin olive oil!!

I just said "water".

By splitting water into its main and only constituents, HYDROGEN & OXYGEN, we could burn the hydrogen released, which is a combustible gas, like propane, and which is extensively used and has been used to power vehicles of all categories for a long long time.

Only that instead of buying an alternative gas like propane, which comes from fossil fuel, we could use a natural gas found in water.

Only that the technology of producing enough hydrogen from water when needed, has not yet been perfected. Nevertheless, A VW has just crossed from San Francisco to New York, relying solely on hydrogen produced from a homemade plant.

The most spectacular part of all this is that instead of depleting the world's diminishing reserve of oxygen, which has to be used in any burning process, oxygen is given off from the process.

The big pro when comparing this system to the alternative electric vehicle, is that an electric vehicle is a non polluting vehicle, but has to be designed from scratch as an electric vehicle, and nothing else.
Substituting the fuel in our IC engines, means that we do not have to scrap them all and start afresh, but have clean air and retaining our
thoroughbreds, classics, vintage, veteran, and whatever cars we hold close to our heart.

Ohhh, and Awesome, use that corn oil for cooking, or if you are on diet on fresh bread and tomatoes...don't forget a pinch of salt too!!rolling on the floor laughing
