Portiea: No, I agree, these ashes are not extraneous at all...essential. And I glad to know I'm not the only one doing this, keeping my pet's ashes.
That's why I had them cremated. When I lost Bo, my wolf, my mom was upset that I decided to cremate him. But I told her that I wouldn't live in that house forever and I couldn't think of leaving him. Then she was glad that I had done it.
gringa: eee-gads...i almost feel busted ...okay, i confess...my extraneous stuff are some clothes that i NEVER wear, but keep packing and hauling with me..."Just in case." You know, just in case ...i get an invitation to the White House...my friend has a gothic wedding...it snows in so. mexico ...i'm invited to a costume party. You just never know. and a chica just needs to be prepared, aye?
Ouchhhhhh..... were you looking into my closets? I might be the only unofficialy "gypsy" with clothes that are not even opened after one year of closet life....as you said...you never know when one might need a winter coat in Cancun or a whole fashion show when vacationing..... But I am working on that, and now, before my move to Canada, I am sticking with the bare necesityes...( after all, one never know when a screw driver, a hammer and an arabic amoking pipe are needed).

I'd certainly keep the tools. I have a lot of clothes that I don't wear too.

I have things with the tags still on, from two years ago when I got to Mexico....and seems they will leave for Canada with the same tagg on
Somehow , I blame this on my past living in a communist country ( hence the fear of running out of things or not baing available when needed). I do the same in my kitchen ....and I am putting a lot of effort and fight into breaking free of that....almost there
Still travelling with 5 suitcases to Canada but that's an improvement, two of them are pure books

Portiea: Totally agree....the things I miss most that I left behind in the States are my books.....it was very sad for me.....
My mom always called her books her old friends. And I agree. I did donate a lot of books after moms death to the library, but still have bookcases in almost every room and still have some in boxes.

I love books but have to keep my collection pretty small these days.
