Portiea: What if this is all there is?? Nothing else matters except E and F? Why not?
I meant it as in past tense; already experienced. Becoming a widower just took all the great fun of Life right out. It was bad enough to realize one day that while in the service, everyone that I knew and cared about was dead, but this time the effect was vastly different as were the circumstances.
Life’s transitions…..What do you think are the most important and possibly most difficult and/or fulfilling transitions in life and why do you say so? (If I have forgotten one, please add it.)
a. From childhood into teenage years b. Being a teenager c. From being a teenager to being an adult d. Your first real job e. Getting married and starting a family f. Divorce or being widowed g. Facing the last years of your life….75 plus j. moving to an unknown place k. making new friends m. adopting a pet n. pregnancy

I hear ya. Same boat myself. Really changes your perspective on life.
Indyfella: Seems like facing the final curtain would be the most trying. No turning back and knowing death is knocking at the door...a time we'd evaluate missed opportunities and a multitude of losses.
Of course some may be able to appreciate the lives they've led.
I would much rather face the final curtain myself than to lose a loved one. Parent, child, spouse...all of them extremely crushing. Yep. Would rather it be me than one of them!
Hugz_n_Kissez: I agree and all men rightly should....Kid hasn't given anyone trouble today so far...BUT that doesn't mean he wasn't thinking about it!!!!!!!!!!!!

the hardest life transition for me, so far, has been my son growing up and leaving to be on his own. I encouraged him to spread his wings, but was really thinkingI still miss him.....I guess I always will, but that is the natural order of things and something that we have to deal with as parents.

Yes, the natural order of things...all of these things are, pretty much, part of life, what is normal and natural, but often so hard to deal with.
