ttom500: Are you seeing much in the Russia media about the Russian/Georgian conflict?
Russian news is focussing on two jets being shot down by Georgian forces and that more than 10 Russian peacekeepers in South Ossetia have been killed and more wounded.
I have to say that the enlightened Russian people here are sceptical of anything on the news though.

My bet is both gov't are doing point the finger at the other guy right now.....as to who did what first. Also both will be doing disinformation campaigns......so every thing is to be taken with a grain of salt at this time.
So it is hard for the news reporter in say one of the countries to get a accurate picture.
jlw45: oh yea...you are right....i was thinking of georgia
eh what? you've lost me! All I was on about was that Russia used to own Alaska, til you realised the richness of oil there and bought it off them for Jimmy Carter's livelyhood!

You are about 100 years off......and it was for other natural resources....like furs and gold....not to mention......that it is just a really big place......like the good old USA....so just seemed like the right thing to do, back then.
