Yep, been and gone. This one was kind of a bummer though, because if someone had a bad night or made a mistake the media really dwelled on it and played it on a loop. I mean, not all the contestants can recieve a medal, someone has to lose and some people have off days. There is no reason to keep picking at the oop's that people have/make in their lives.

That is the media for you and it is what sells papers. Also at times they dig up the truth about people. Like those in office mis- using money going on expensive trips etc. I especially love the summer Olympic's as I love gynastic's, I was in a club and thought we were something yeah right! What these kids can do today like on that narrow bar is amazing. I really enjoyed it all very much.

Yeah, the gymnastics are really good, but they have changed the point system some what and have forced them all to push for a really high start value. I can understand to some point, because the athelets or so much better now days and there are those who are specialists. However, it upsets me a little because they will get hurt much more often I think.

It amazes me how many records are broken everytime. Where is the limit. Have noticed no men on that narrow beam. I wonder if this is that when they would fall on that beam, between their leggs I mean, the "nursery" could be severely damaged. ???
Yeah, could be. I don't remember many boys getting up and trying the balance beam when I was in school. I don't think the teachers asked them to. Maybe because their balance is different. I have heard that women have better balance any ways.

tipaly81: What do you think of the winter games. I really like the Ice skating and the Snow boarding. I think they are good fun to watch.
I like the winter sport too but prefer the summer games. The next winter games will be in Vancouver Canada in 2010. I see it on the television just fine.

There are a lot more events that I like to watch in the summer games too. But I do really like some of the winter ones. Especially those my grandpa liked. Skating, skiing, boarding(newer, i think), and a few others. But the summer volley ball, diving, some running and all that, I really like.
I enjoyed the games this time. Only China is capable of organizing Olympics liks this, because no other country has so big human resource that is truckling so well. Part of communism, but this time it was their advantage.

What some of it staged and fake. The fireworks, the little girl singing, the real age of some of the female gymnast? Claiming all the seats were sold out but the truth was that some of the seats were filled by having people trucked in. There is more. China it was hoped they would change their stance on human right. They did not. The Chinese used the games for propaganda purposes, but we all know that.
Apart from all that, leaving politic's out of it all, the opening, the closing ceremonies were spectacular to say the least. Having that many people moving as one was unbelievable. The Chinese atletes were graceous and showing to be good sports when others won the medals. (They did win many medal too) And I am grateful there were not any problems so far as terorist etc. Yes the games were a success.

Well Holland will do better with the skating in 2012 in Vancouver. I was not going too but I am getting a glass of wine now, red! Because it is good for you right? I am always mindful of my health, Proost, prosit, skol,
