WhatUwish4: I think that is because taxes are already so damn high people have reached the breaking point. And the fact that so much is wasteful spending just irks us even more

Wasteful spending is always annoying. But ARE US taxes particularly high? I don't know the answer. I just wondered what the figures were like?

That is income. Now add property tax. And in my case Sales tax
and water tax. Not to mention hidden gas tax. Not a pretty picture.

yes we have all those taxes much the same. Income - higher, property (small) water, sales etc. They are a bit lower than here but probably not a lot lower when all added up.

I don't get that....why should the oil revenue be just for Alaskans?

I thought that Alaska was a territory purchased by the US from Russia way back.....shouldn't everyone share the oil revenue?

Every State has its own government. Let me explain how many
levels of government americans are under.

Federal then State then County then City then Homeowners association finally your own family. grin

So your could be paying taxes to 6 entities. laugh

I know that....but when you have a big asset in a territory purchased by the US Government on behalf of all the inhabitants of the US why do the locals get this windfall? Why is it not shared among all?

I know it is a State....but it just seems a little unfair in the distribution of wealth that belongs to all US citizens.....or should in my view. Maybe the Government is getting a sufficient cut? wave

May ask the same question to people in Nevada who also don't
have state taxes, as most revenue is acquired from the casino
industry. Should not casino revenues be spread to all americans.

Also Texas has or had many oil wells with revenue. Much of this
goes to state universities in Texas. That is why education in
Texas is very cheap.

I could go on. But in general they own the land and they get the
benefits of the land. drinking

Why I am voting Democrat

I'm voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better
of spending the money that I earn, than I would.

I am voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as
nobody is offended by it.

I am voting Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq, I can be
assured that the bad guys will stop what they are doing because they
will think that we are good people now.

I am voting Democrat because I believe that the people who can't tell
us whether or not it will rain on Friday... Can tell us that the polar
ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

I am voting Democrat because that I believe that businesses should not
be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and
then give the rest to the government for redistribution as politicians
see fit.

I am voting Democrat because I believe the Supreme Court Justices need
to rewrite the constitution every month to suit some activist kooks
who would never get their agendas past the voters.

I am voting Democrat because I believe that if criminals or terrorist
invade my home, I don't want any guns in house that might hurt them.

I am voting Democrat because I think that marriage doesn't need to be
just for a man and a woman. I think that people should be free to
marry whatever they want. I have decided to marry my dog.

I am voting Democrat because I think the workers that have paid into
social security all these years don't need or deserve it as badly as
illegal aliens and persons perpetrating welfare fraud.

I am voting Democrat because I want to pay even more expensive health
insurance premiums so people who do not pay a penny for their
healthcare can flood the healthcare system every time that they have a
headache.

I am voting Democrat because I want to further reduce our baby killing
military forces and just hope that no one wants to invade the USA.

I am voting Democrat because I feel that a president who is ashamed of
his country, ashamed to wear an American flag pin, who will not say
the pledge of allegiance to the flag and who has never had a real job
and yet lives in a 1.6 million dollar mansion... Has the best interest
of the nation and my family as his primary objective.

I am voting Democrat because I want Speaker of the house, like Nancy
Pelosi to save the planet, while destroying the United States of
America.

I am voting Democrat because I want more real patriots like Harry Reid
to be in positions of leadership.

I am voting Democrat because I want to pay higher taxes to fund
giveaway pork barrel programs that have no benefit to me or the
country, but make crooked politicians rich.

I am voting Democrat because I want to bring oil from countries that
support terrorist organizations that want to destroy America. Why
drill for domestic oil when we can just buy it from them for $150 per
barrel?

MAKES YOU EVEN WONDER WHY ANYONE WOULD EVER VOTE FOR A
REPUBLICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
