Everybody is so worried about the election and America. So many threads about America and who's going to be president and this and that. We who live here are the people and all we can do is excise our right to get out and vote. I was born here sort of like a person being born in Rome under Cesar, how much can we really do. No matter who wins the election it will be the choice of the people. It seems that some people are so into this election I think they work for both parties and are using the web as a tool to get their message across.(I'm not referring to the author of this thread). This is a dating site, not a political proving ground. As far as election machines, its to the point were they should just put all the candidates on slot machines at a casino and let people play them for a week, and which ever candidate get the most jack pots winds.
agman: McCain is too old to run a country and Palin is too young. Plus McCain failed to run the country already.
LOL With age there is WISDOM!!! Barak is sorely lacking here. And Palin is more experienced AND LEVEL HEADED than Obama to begin with, so this argument simply doesn't fly on any level.
I think we should all just vote by a CS poll...I mean after all they are just as secure as the voting machines annnnnnnddddddd....you can't vote twice...there problem solved.....
well folks - I found a documentary on the voting issue and have posted 3 of the 9 in the video section - quite alarming Im sure some of you will agree................

Yeah, maybe we should send em our tech guys to do the job instead
Olsojente: "Voter ID rules and requirements also remain problematic. Despite ever-mounting evidence that fraud committed at the polls by voters is extremely rare, fraud is still routinely used as a justification for passing harsh voter ID laws that result in disenfranchisement, especially among minorities, young people, the elderly and the poor. Georgia and Florida have the worst of them. And even with states without strict ID rules, there is reason to worry that poll workers and voters will misunderstand the rules leading to disenfranchisement.
Another problem in 2006 was state laws made it too easy to challenge a voter on a slim basis. The most famous example of this was the challenge to 35,000 voters’ eligibility to vote in Ohio prior to Election Day. There are already indications that with all the new voters registering, challenges to eligibility will be a major issue again this year. None of the seven states reviewed in this report have changed their laws since 2006 to lessen the chances of this occurring, and of the three new states included, Colorado and New Mexico have acceptable, though not ideal provisions to handle challenges to voters, while Virginia’s is fairly troubling.
But progress has also been made, particularly in Ohio. Though still flawed, the state did improve its law of handling challenges to voters in 2006, and the law that has been clarified in a positive direction by the secretary of state. Secretary Jennifer Brunner has also, through policy directive, done much to address the state’s potential machine allocation issues. Ohio also now has good poll worker training standards, including an online program, does a good job educating voters about polling place information and registration and has a pilot program to automatically update voter registration information."

Great post Cathrine, Thanks..... I only wonder why people arent looking more into stuff like this instead of wasting time arguing who may be the better candidates - you already know who you are personally gonna vote for, whats more important is whether or not that vote is going to be honestly represented...........
Im not just speaking of America here either, a lot of the rest of the world now have these dubious vote counting systems too
BarrenPneuma: I never realized tat this thread was about what we had for breakfast... geeze I can be so slow some days. Oh well I had fried eggs and toast so that my vote...
Fallingman: I have to agree with Indy....that sounds complete nonsense.
sounds like complete nonsense to me too - but nothing would really surprise me with Bush - the sooner he goes the better - maybe Im just afraid that it could be true

Trish and everyone else, especially All Americans...
HBO put out an excellent documentary which was a nominee for the emmy awards. It shows how easily voting machines are hacked, especially Diebold machines. Diebold actually begged HBO not to release this film!

isnt the whole thing scarry though, what on earth can we do about it - I believe they are used all over now too and all with the excuse to save a little time - I dont see what was wrong with the old cross in a box on paper, so what if it takes a little longer to count them.......
whats the point i having an election at all if the whole thing is made into a flippin farce cos of the counting system - the whole world is a risk from this, not just the US system
We have some of the most dependable n robust voting machines ...if ma memory serve me right we helped UK with some of them for a council election some time in early 2000s

There has to be a better way.................
Yes, Trish, it is very scary when Governments run amuck and are out of control!
I am thankful that my precint uses paper ballots with special pens. You X the box and place the card into a scanning machine.
You are right in saying that the whole world is at risk by this voting farce. This is their plan, the Elitist who control the world!!!
I do have hope however as I remember the old saying, "Cheaters never prosper". It may look as if they are prospering as they control the worlds money with their evil hearts and act as if "common folk" are to be trampled under foot, as they use us as pawns to suck the life out of, as they manipulate us into giving them our last hard earned dollar in order to survive. I am convinced, they will suffer and get what they have comming to them, in the end. They will pay, and it won't be in Dollars!
