jbibiza: Ken... here we are... a couple of meddling women... please don´t take offence for speaking about you... what I have to say is positive and just my opinion of you....
I don´t think that Ken suffers so much from self rejection as he rejects his illness which is only a small part of who he is. His interaction with others is far to healthy for someone who truly rejects himself.
Again only my perception.... Ken please forgive us for speaking about you as if you weren´t here. I spill my guts all over the forums and seem to take it for granted that others won´t mind. I hope you don´t.
JB, you are very perceptive and deep, as usual. I actually saw it the same way - just couldn't dig it out

Well first off, I really don't think people can get beyond taking things personally, its just a part of life... However, with that being said, and with some of the things mentioned in your post...
1. We all learn to adapt. The more you try to meet new people, the better your confidence gets, even if you get rejected 9/10 times. Eventually you learn to care *less* and less.. it just becomes something you get use to.
2. One reason why people get hurt sometimes is because they make the other person out to be something bigger than they really are... That beautiful girl is too good for you, right? Therefore, instantly you lose confidence. Everyone is the same.
3. Watch this clip and then you will have more confidence lol..
It's easier said then done to move on..>NO ONE...likes rejection...it's not only a confidence killer, then you start thinking well what do i not have...and analyzing to know extent...and let me tell ya...you can say all day long...that you got to get up and do it again...well some people aren't made that way...
Some look at it as a make or break moment...and if it's a break moment then you go back to square one, do not pass go and collect your 200...
So yeah while it's good to give hope that people can and will get up and try again and again..but not everyone can do this..

JB and Laura...I am very flattered!
The reason I bring up bipolar in the forums is for people to see it first hand. The disease has had enough negative stereotypes, and any discussion about people with the disease that is positive is more than welcome and appreciated.
I have my bad times, and I even post them on the forums. No use trying to explain something so complicated without seeing some of its effects. But I need to stop whining on the threads...a friend has shown me what true dignity is. I envy that and want to emulate it.
Part of the disease is a lack of self-confidence...so rejection can be devistating to someone who has bipolar. I decided I am who I am and not to worry about rejection anymore. What the heck do I have to lose? if I don't try, I won't succeed.
Thank you Laura and JB for talking about it. And you are right...I am not bipolar, I am someone who has bipolar. The illness isn't who I am.hug:
It's a difficult illness, Ken, but it does not define who you are. I think what others are trying to tell you is that we see you more as a very kind, compassionate, open-minded guy, and not at all as "that bi-polar guy."

I could not have said that better myself - and I could not agree more.
