druidess6308: It's a Chinese art of decorating in a manner that improves the flow of chi in one's home to improve the general energy of one's life. Basically, it's based on the principle that everything has energy, and the energy of each thing affects the others, and you, so you can bring the things you want in your life into it by placing your furniture and accessories in the most propitious places. Placement of mirrors, plants, fountains, etc., are very important.
I came in here thinking this was some kind of chinese meal ...

If the fireplace is positioned facing west, place a screen mesh in front of the hearth in winter or a decorated firescreen in summer, as the energy from the west is thought to be quite disruptive. Corner fireplaces create the best flow of chi in a living room, as the chi is directed past any corners.
Wow! Very interesting! My fireplace just happens to be facing west. And I do have a screen mesh in front of it... left there by the previous owner.
