Played Avalon Hill's D-Day with my dad on Christmas Day when I was 9 years old.

We stayed up till 1am to finish it.

He won.

Best Christmas ever.

Playing Millionaire with my older brothers when I was 3 years old. Earliest gaming memory.

I couldn't count so I didn't realise I had well over a million pounds and had won the game.

Lovely brother you had.

We didn't do the typewriter in my family.

There was the noisebox though - which is a variation on the typewriter.

Press the nose for a car horn sound. Twist the ear for another sound...

I suppose my dad was a wise man. He used to buy us lots of boardgames to distract us from games like the noisebox or typewriter. The games would keep us quiet for hours on end before an argument would erupt over the rules, or my 2nd oldest brother cheating. Or the game would end and we'd argue over who would pack it up.

uglysister: black jacks were so good....................black teeth and tongue after you had eaten them.

and chap door runaway....................a few good chases
were had by me too................although being the smallest i was always given a head start before they chapped

'Chap door runaway',so that is the Scotish version of that old time favourite, that good, clean, wholesome, child's passtime from a more innocent age.

There was a couple of girls who played 'knock and run' with us,and their girlish squeals of excitement gave our hiding places away, whenever someone decided to come after us. But that just added to the excitement of it all.

We knew that if any of us got caught,we could expect a thick ear,or some other form of mild chastisement.
We expected nothing less, but that would be the end of the matter, and we would'nt pick on them again.

Instead,we would select some new, unsuspecting victims, who were complacently looking forward to settling down in front of the telly, after a long, hard, tiring day at work.
