Do you feel alienated by someone,
who is constantly putting you down,
and calling you all sorts of names?

Such things are poison to a person, both for their mental and physical state. Get out of that situation or seek professional help if you are not sure what exactly to do. wave Good luck.

it could be a control issue, just ask straight out why that is happening
and that you don't want to jump to conclusions as you are not a mind reader. Once you put it that way, they will either stop doing it, or be honest enough for you to make your decision.

Thanks all. This is someone I have to get along with on a regular basis.
So I just ignore it, because saying I don't like the venom the person is spewing only
helps for a few min, then it's back to the same nonsense again.
I think it's a total lack of respect, as well as the said person is undergoing some deep hurt or psychological pain that has absolutely nothing to do with me.

That's very very wise. It just occured to me this afternoon, the same thing, all my life and I never realized that it is a form of control. When someone makes outright or even barbed/sort of hidden snarky comments s/he is trying to get you to respond and/or get angry then s/he is in control. It's really ugly. Don't respond. Don't let it hurt your feelings. Ask yourself why the person needs to do this to you. It's about them, not you.
