I am going shopping on Monday to buy some new clothes...mostly to beat the winter blues, but also, like everyone this time of year, I have a few parties coming up. I would like some suggestions as to what is cool at the moment in the smart casual range.

can you help?

Well, I can relax here because you're DEFINITELY not aiming that question at me.....if it was up to me, jeans and t-shirt would be obligatory for everybody....

umm i was thinking more casual than a suit....jeans and t shirt is a bit too cliche really...i guess it's difficult to get an idea over the net..I have a blue armani casual jacket already so i might base something around that..

Oh for heaven's sake...here we go, from the fashion Guru of Bugibba...

let's start with your blue casual jacket...how blue??...dark blue??...baby blue??..sky blue?

Black t-shirt...Armani, good quality...no logos please..
Either a designer pair of jeans or something in black for dressier occasions...

Roll up the sleeves of the jacket..

Good solid black leather belt with flash, large but tasteful silver buckle..

Leather shoes in black...or blue suede if you want to compete with Phoenix...

Now the accessoire...a scarf...in red, or a blue ultramarine..no checks please...that's so passé...or black with texture...play with textures...

wear a hat if you want a date for that night...

...for dressier occasions change t-shirt for an open-necked black shirt...

Black and blue...you can't go wrong...

That's it then...settled..:-)

you can't go wrong with black armani t shirts, i guess....and no logos,,,that's good..i hate wearing logos.

A blue Armani jacket ......what shade of blue?.. sounds interesting.

Is it regular style? or something exotic? How long is it? Or how short? Is it comfortable? Is it warm?

I agree with Phoenix and Lago - denims go everywhere, also Chinos (except they are hard work to iron, unless you like the slightly wrinkled look with baggy knees? which I dont think is quite your style?). I would suggest trying on at all the high-quality shops first to find the look and style you like, and then looking a the off-the-peg stores for similar copies?... Everyone copies the designers these days. Of course, if your budget allows, then go for designer jeans/trousers. Especially with a nice shirt. Just NOT anything Polyester in shirts okay? And NO baby pinks or blues or purples or lilacs. Black, white & tans look manly.

A clean white Tshirt under the shirt, with denims always looks cool - sort of James Dean - ish, or Sylvester Stalone-ish, or Bruce Springsteen-ish ............. if you like that look?

A classic long overcoat is real nice for going out, if you need warmth, with the Armani jacket.

Despite all the namby pamby styles going ... just make sure you look "rugged" and "casual" and don`t have to change your shoes just because you`re gonna walk instead of ride - shoes could be something also where you dont stint in quality ...... solid, good leather, good soles.
