roseofsharon: I am inclined to think there are much more worthy causes, for all the obvious reasons. Besides.... the majority of inmates in this country are better off than I am. Crime doesn't pay? Mmmmm....

Bloody good thread though, love!!

I remember the thread. Graham did it?

Conrad73: And most likely gonna stay that way.

Conrad, when it is enough to quote an Abba tune to explain the situation, it say a lot about things, does it not.

You make a good point about it being for the children first but I think if a person has the resources and is somehow able to give to "anyone" on Christmas why not? Some of the people in those prisons have not been shown any kindness in their lives so why not be kind?
Just an idea also the prisoners families a lot of times are struggling so that might be a good place to extend "blessing" on someone else.
Idea of giving is to give out of joyfulness. JMO

Actually, I wasn't referring to any previous thread, I don't remember that one. But, its true.... in this country, prisoners get a cushy time of it, for sure!!

What shall it be.... burglary? Car-jacking? Ooooo.... the options are endless!!
In fact, drunk and disorderly may prove a little more exciting? grin
Back to my mis-spent youth then??!!

Try it, tell us how it was. laugh

In the thread i mentioned, they had something about the luxurious options they had with their meals. Oh, i remember, there was also something about muslim inmates demanding different meal assortments.

Someone should send them to 'kamiti maximum prison' in Kenya.

They'd have a ball there. drinking

Anyway, i think they should be given christmas presents. It must be awful living in there, for years.

sigh

No.... they will be given presents by their nearest and dearest. Besides, they have committed a crime against others.... if one doesn't want to make sacrifices (which they don't really make here!), then don't do the crime!!

There are sooo many people who are short of money, no prospects, little to look forward to and yet they don't resport to breaking the law and doing a dis-service to others......

cheers

You have a good point there!

Why anyone would feel the need to harm another's life, is beyond me.

You know what I have always like about Christmas is people stepping out of their narrow confines and giving to others. If you can't find it in your heart to give to inmates cool if you can that is great too. Really as much as giving to another it comes down to you sometimes the best thing in our lives is to step out of our comfort zone and help others especially those we don't understand.
Christmas is about charity and mercy and those are things we all need upon occasion.

the lady with 5 husbands and the man she was living with she is not married to... scandalous...

paul wrote in hebrews.

2Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

3Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

two separate points

Dawn7z: I understand where you are coming from and obviously you heart is with the children and that's cool but sometimes people's heart are drawn to those who are considered unlovely like the homeless those in prison etc. You have to give where YOU yourself are led to give.

No, you misunderstand. My heart is not necessarily with "the children".... that was purey an example. I am talking about who is most worthy.... I thought that was clear?

There is no way I would sacrifice a starving child (e.g.), a homeless pensioner, someone who couldn't afford heating or food, someone who could't afford presents for their children at Christmas for someone who had put a broken bottle in someone's face, drunk-driving, arson, etc, etc..... not a chance!!

If someone has misfortune and someone CHOOSES to commit a crime and end up in prison..... how is that comparable??!!

Having worked voluntary in an orphanage in an Eastern block country for a year were kids are tied to beds and left in a heap on the floor because of lack of resources, staff and training...yep the money could be spent more wisely else where.confused

I heard prisoners get a day off prison, once in a while.

I also heard that one stabbed someone on a metro, on his off day.

dunno
