Ok, due to the recent postings as to 9/11 and other controversial threads, I do have to make a confession:
When I left the US in July 2004 I sent a pretty to the point nasty email to Shrub, telling him what I was thinking of him and his brown-nosing to Daddy and whatever else... can't remember the exact wording, but I am just almost sure that that email ended up in the files of CIA and FBI as a potential threat to national security ..... well, mind you, I was already back in Germany
Who knows, maybe they got their tabs on me all this time
but you know what?! I really don't give a dime - cause Shrub's license to kill is running out faster than he can say duh !
what is shrub ?...he's just another front man for the powers that, really, be....and yes, we have another front man on the way...but, thats all he is, is another front man

I watched his farewell to the press thing yesterday and still thought what a schmuck........
he hasnt done one single thing to endear himself to the people in all his years in office - good riddance GW........
didnt he say in that thing yeaterday that the people were gotten off the roofs of New Orleans pretty quickly? I thought wtf were they doing on those roofs in the first place - a decent gvmt would have sorted the levees before they broke - same old story huh.......

The Levees are sinking with the City. You'll soon have another Venice on the Gulf of Mexico,at least for a while.
trish123: distant memories now but werent there lots of warnings before the levees broke?
yes....there were warning before every hurricane that went through there...new orleans had money for along time for a project to fix the levees but, that money always ended up elsewhere...corruption in new orleans has been there for so long that, its almost expected
K~....unless you made a credible threat, hang tight....however, your point is well taken.....generally speaking, I see expanded governmental action, broadened, justified, & manifested under wider, broad brush statutory schemes, e.g. the Patriot Act, et. al., & holdings like Garcetti v. Cerberallos (providing gov't. workers with less 1st Amend. protections), which many of us took ---- & continue to take ---- strenuous exceptions to, methinks we have some other more serious threats to face....besides, you seem harmless to me unless having an opinion is unlawful.......but it would be interesting to hear more about that --- in another venue, someday......
....one thing I'm cool with & hopeful for is, notwithstanding the new President, y'all keep in mind that there maybe TWO Supreme Ct. justices retiring, which may indicate TWO opportunities for more liberal appointments, and subsequently, a more liberal approach & swing, a la the Brennan years of the '60's, when concerns such as yours led to decisions which still hold today ---- like Katz v. US, where the 4th Amend. protects people not places, & still controls, although that view has been somewhat eroded in the Scalia, Roberts, & Alito era.....so don't give up hope just yet.....I'm not
....just be careful walking over any bridge --- like Bukharin or drinking tea, a la Liventenko.....and keep your back to the wall in any restaurant.....I do :-)

Nothing personal jlw but for a gvmt that was telling every other country on earth how to run their affairs 'the money ended up elsewhere' doesnt really cut the mustard.........

Oh, good point I did not even think of something in my coffee....and I do always sit to the wall with my back ...
I sure do like your point of view and eloguently put wording... yes there should be another venue to talk some more...would be very interesting as I gather from some of your comments, you are working around the middle of the beast's belly
....K~....thanks for your kind words....& yes, I do have somewhat of a unique perspective.....& for whatever its worth, its a narrow line for someone who espouses doing the right thing.....its funny, but I have a friend who gives "the exact opposite to what one should do advice", in hopes someone will get it right......go figure
Interesting to know this thing....who knows maybe if ever CIA files on 'persona-non-grata' are made public we may find each other on there.....
...when Reagan decided to bomb Libya unilaterally I was livid.....and wrote an open letter to the American President which was published n all the local papers in English.....basically asking him to take his bombers and shove them.....in the presidential channel....
so we may possibly be on the same 'register' for all I know......
