emigre: and is that commonly granted ? things are so draconian in britain now that people are actually prevented from working if the government believes it might at some point in the future deport them. i got my son a british passport rather than an irish one because the way things are going they might have refused him british citizenship if he wants to go back when he's older.

Lucky you. My German son's mother (to whom I was married) got rid of me when she was 5 months pregnant; she made damn sure that he wasn't registered within the necessary time frame to get dual nationality.

My sons are BOTH EU citizens though! The EU has helped keep real war from breaking out now for over 60 years between member states - we're historically a really vicious bunch, aren't we?

I pray that there is not another war between Britain and Germany for a very selfish reason - to imagine my two sons fighting each other would be heartbreaking.............

i think you'll be safe there, rusty, britain prefers to shed blood on the other side of the world now, less easy for people to complain

I must admit that when I first read your message I was a bit sympathetic towards you but then I read that your dad was in the U.D.R and I have to admit I was very surprised that you would come on an Irish Dating Forum and ask your question about getting an Irish Passport, I believe John Barnes who was born in South Africa, had an english grandparent which meant he could get an english passport and play for england, which is the rules in the EU, I cant see why you would bring the UDR into the situation (unless you were trying to make a name for yourself) maybe Im misreading the situation?

Fair enough good point but this is a dating forum not a political broadcast but if you want my opinion I will give it to you and it wont be pretty but I have to remember this is a dating forum.

never park your car in kelvin way.
there's a tradition, which i believe i started, of students running up the back of parked cars there and dancing on the roofs
