I'm not a fan of Christmas, and haven't been since I was little. For years I spent the holidays with friends and family, but now I don't mind spending it alone, at least not as much as I once did.
Oddly enough that's how I found this place, Dec. 26th '06. I was here at home alone with nothing much to do and typed in "forums", looking for a four wheel drive forum a friend had told me about. This place came up so I took a peek, and the rest is history.laugh

bluebelle4000: I always adored xmas but it all changed 10 yrs ago on the 19th Dec 98... the day my mother died..

Not being morbid as i am not that kind of person.. she adored xmas too and am glad that if she had to die then she died at her fav time of year...

it will never be the same again...but thats ok... memories are wonderful things...

goodnight all....

oh and keith never mind being on your own at xmas... turn it around.. look at it differently.... your not going to be with people u dont get on with your going to be with someone you like... YOU!! and thats all thats important....

Thanks Karen!teddybear

no, i don't dread it at all, in fact looking4ward2 da clocks going back 2 night, the long dark evenings, wrapping up well against the cold, seeing the lights everywhere, people laden down with bags, and then the franticness of getting last min prezzies
i love the whole package, although do admit, it is an anticlimax when the day arrives, it is really4 kids and santa.
the only part dat would depress me is coming to new years, knowing i didn't keep any of the last resolutions and making a whole lot more!!

Godsgift: I just watched a Christmas ad on TV and it filled me with despair. Sometimes I'd just like to crawl into bed in early December and come out when it's all over. Am I the only one who feels like a failure as the rest of the world plays happy families?

No..your not alone in that...Wish I had my family to play happy families with...sigh ...oh now look your making me crycrying ...but yea I don't really like christmas either...but when I'm home I love it...

Think it would be different if kids were younger. Not the same when they're older. Not the same excitement.

Will go through the motions of course and will thoroughly enjoy the build up, shopping, decorating work party etc..

But the day itself.....

dunno

All of this has me thinking, would normally get an invite to my sisters for Christmas (my daughter spends the Christmas with her mum every year). Might cook Christmas dinner chez moi yet and send out invites, must think about it !!!
