an inexpensive way of shipping books from the US to Ireland? I bought two books online from someone but he said it will cost $75 to ship them to me from the US to Ireland. Obviously it wouldn't be worth it to spend that kinda money on shipping when the books don't even cost that much.

Does anyone have any ideas? confused

if you really want to- depends where they are, i have friends in New Hampshire and Texas- if the books are anywhere near there- i expect they would be happy to collect them and send them by post for a fraction of that cost- sounds like you bought from a cowboy!!

The US Post office used to do a thing called a book bag. A friend of mine sent me a huge bag of books and it only cost her ten dollars... dont know if they still do it.

holly cow! thats expensive.
it is expensive to send overseas.
I wanted to send a rental lease to France last year and it would've cost me 35$ Canadian....
what are the books you want? I could maybe have a look around and see how much it would cost for me to send it.

have a great day

Many online shops in the US don't send via postal mail to addresses outside of America and Canada, limiting a purchaser to courier services such as Fed Ex or DHL; that's probably the reason why the carriage is as dear as $75. What's worse with courier parcels is that they tend to be more likely to be intercepted by customs and taxed.

Mail the books to a friend or relative and ask them to mail it onwards; if not try source the books elsewhere.
