" Nope, as far as I'm concerned the problem was with all these groups that put a stop to things like building firebreaks and preventing back burning before the season starts and stopping new fire roads being built."

you hit it on the head...

save a blade of grass and burn down whole forests and towns..

and people and governments actually listen to their bulls#@tmumbling

Exactly, and why not burn BEFORE the conditions get extreme???? They know it is going to burn, so why not early when it is controlable and there is not heatwave conditions and high winds. This has been happening for years, when are the authorities going to learn?

they will learn when they start listening to people qualified by education and experience to give solid advice..

and stop listening to extremists who need to find some new stupid idealogies to keep themselves in the lime light

merci49: Is it a sign of God's anger? wouldn't you be angry if you were God , seeing so much poevrty and greed on one side , and greed on the other side?
are we falling victim of industrialization? have you seen the ozon layer pictures? are we doomed? who is responsible?
we'd better wake up soon , otherwise..

thank you for your thoughts Vinny..
my thoughts are constantly on the people in the areas affected...

strange I live only 1 1/2 hours from most of the places..yet feel like I live in another world. I spend my days looking at the trees looking for wind change and put out a plea to the universe to not let the wind pick up and fuel the fires all over again..

anyone wanting to see the devestation to try and understand just how bad it is here look up the herald sun newspaper melbourne...be reay for it to tear at your heart and soul

I've been watching it on the late news, and it's just unbelievable. They showed a picture from space, of what Victoria looked like, and it was as though two thirds was just pure blackness, from all the fires.

It's incomprehensible how anyone could actually be responsible for these. My heartfelt sympathies do go out to all the families and friends that have been affected by this and my thoughts and prayers are with all those who have survived, and anyone else who is involved with the rescue and rebuilding of towns.

On a more positive note, after watching the cricket last night, they confirmed that with donations from business, companies and all the 6's that were hit, they have raised just over $6 million dollars to go towards those affected by the fires.
