Im so sorry if this has been asked before, but its nice to hear other peoples views on subjects i never really get to talk about :).
What do you want to achieve in your life in the future? For me, iv always hoped to be able to marry with the perfect girl, have 5 kids and 3 dogs, and settle down in a small home in japan or canada :). I also hope to work with animals or children either as vet, or as soccer teacher. How about yourselves?

Like you my main goal was to find someone to love. Unfortunately I never achieved that goal. It requires the participation of another person which is beyond my ability to control. However, I don't judge the value of my life by the goals I may or may not have met.

I had also made it a goal to build my own home from scratch by myself which I have already achieved. I didn't really think of that as a life's goal.

Finally, I've studies physics and mathematics my entire life. I didn't really have a specific goal in mind with that other than to learn the subjects and possible make a contribution. Well, there is no end to learning those subjects so it's no possible to ever actually complete the goal of having learned them. I do continue to study them though, and I have made a major breakthrough in mathematics which I have yet to publish. The publishing process alone will take at least a year or more if that's all I dedicated myself to which isn't possible.

So I supposed it could be said that my major goal right now is to publish this discovery. Although, I have a whole lot of other goals going on in the way of remodeling projects and so forth.

I'm also learning to play the violin, piano and classical guitar. But I also don't consider those to be "goals" as when do you say that you have achieved them? At what point can you say that you have "learned" them. I only started playing them a year ago and I can already play several pieces on each instrument so have I achieved the "goal"?

I'd like to play the Bach Partitas and Sonatas on the violin as well as Hilary Hahn. That's probably an unrealistic goal to set but I'll keep plugging along and see how far I get before I die. I'm actually starting to learn those pieces already so maybe in another 5 years or so I'll be able to play them half decently.

I do still continue to work toward the goal of finding a lover. Although my real goal was to find her before this, so I have already failed in the sense of when I had hoped to achieve that goal. Finding a woman that I would like to live with is hard enough. Finding one I would like to live with who knows how to say YES when I ask her out on a first date is even more difficult.

My final goal in life is to die. And for some reason I'm pretty confident that this is at least one goal I can be fairly confident that I will indeed achieve.

I have also achieved a whole lot of other goals during my life. But none of those were a "main" goal.

If I publish my discovery in mathematics before I die I will consider that probably my biggest accomplishment. If I live long enough to actually receive recognition for having made it that would be icing on the cake. But it would be silly to make that recognition a "goal" since it depends on other people. Just like finding a mate does.

Does this involve time travel, astral travel, or the formula for the PERFECT MATE~!!!!!!

I GOTTA KNOW....... whatever the formula is I want it ~!!!!

PS- I think your biggest accomplishment (if you do not mind me saying) is the will power and the strenght not to give up on finding "The one" as your life partner.... your cutting your courage for moving forward and still having a desire for emotinal ful-fillment~!!!!

wow nicerob22, thats awesome!!

my main goal in life growing up was to meet mr right at a really young age (as my sisters did~15) and get married (they married by 18), have 4+ kids and live outside of a medium sized city, kind of like out in the country, but somewhere near mountains or some great spectacular natural setting. i also want a dog, a family dog, like a lab or golden retriever. i'm not really a fan of new houses or larger ones, but no matter what, they have to have a huge backyard.. room for the kids to play, room for fruit trees and swings and to camp out there with the kids even on a school night. i wanted to be a stay home mom, not just to spend time with my kids, home school them, look after all the wonderful aspects of "home", but to enrich the life of my kids and husband by providing them with the most love and attentions that any person could ever give them in a lifetime as a mother and as a wife.

seeing as the plan is not really working out.. i've pretty much dedicated myself to working on the other lil things that make me happy like learning, art, and working toward being my own boss at a job that i love. my best friend and i put the plan to test by starting our own company, and so far so good. we love the freedom when it comes to decisions, we love the hours, we love everything about it. once we start making income, it'll be even more exciting but in the long run only a BONUS.. bc we're keeping our goals small and for the moment calling it our "pet project".

i got a couple more credits to finish to get my honors degree from university, but i just don't have the passion for it... call me whatever you want, but passion is what drives me... this sept comming up i'm starting a welding apprenticeship in order to continue on with trying to be my own boss... i sketch a lot of designs and i have very unique ways of seeing nature and people.. and i express it by creating art... so the plan is to somehow incorporate my art into welding metals.. i've talked to a few friends who are in the landscape business and they are willing to partner up (once i'm ready) so that i can make metal works for landscapes. i'm really excited about this.. but since money is the issue, i'm continuing to receive diving instruction in order to find a high paying job in the under water welding profession once i'm done my apprenticeship.

if love where to come into my life at this point... i guess that would be plan *x*.. the real unknown.. all i know is that if i find *IT*.. then i'll have to make some decisions on some of these temporary things, and i'd be more than happy to do so at that point.

Sorry, it's not a formula. It has to do with the structure of the formalism of mathematics itself. Precisely what affect it might have on individual mathematical statements is yet to be seen. It really has more to do with things like the formal definition of infinity and how infinite objects behave quantitatively. It also has to do with the structures of groups, which is a topic of abstract algebra.

If you want to know the secret of time travel I could offer you some insight on that. To me, that's a topic in physics, not mathematics. I'm not claiming to know how to build a time machine, but I do have thoughts on the matter. I could tell you what you would need to do to build one in theory. But if you understand the theory well you might also realize that you aren't going anywhere even if you do succeed in building a working time machine.

I'm not fully convinced that I haven't already given up on this. The dream is alive for sure, but I think I'm starting to view it as just that ~ a dream that will never come to be.

Nicerob22,

You're dream sounds great. Japanese women are pretty cool too. Maybe you should just move to Japan first and take it from there. wink

All I can do is be me,with a promise to myself to do the best I can.Knowing that I am not perfect and that fault is a trait that is not a weakness or a fault, but an emotion that is one of human nature.

To stay true to who I am,being able to fall without judgement or critisim unto my being.

Keeping a open mind and not passing judgement,to give of my heart freely,to love,to live,to learn and to see all that is possible for my eyes to view.

Living live to its fullest, without regret.Dreaming and holding fast unto what it is I dream.Knowing that anything is possible if I want it to be.Living with me and liking me and all that I intail.

Watching and sometimes just keeping my opions to myself, letting those I love at times make there own mistakes.

Stating true, and not percieving things to far into the future and taking all that I have and enjoying what is,and excepting all that may be.

Happy, sad, confussed, angry, are all apart of my make-up,and that I have to give, and can recive with a clear mind and take all that I have, give, share, except, free mind, free spirit, soul always searching.

I can only be me.

My main goal in life is to be happy. To be finally able to forgive the person who hurt me a long time ago. And to make my mum fulfilled by finally giving her at least one grandchild.

For now I'd just be happy with a nice man with a big willy !!!

My goal in life? I guess I want to finish my master's and teach high school or college math. Other than that, I only want a motorcycle, a house, and a family. Not too ambitious, but I would like to think that they're all acheivable.
