Hmmm.. Already asked the question in the title line..
Anybody got any ideas how to get our fellow Tennesseans to participate? It's no fun if you post and come back a month later, and you're still the last post..
Or is there any particular reason why so few do?
I know they are out there, cause I've seen 'em.. Just not in here..
What should we do?
o Hold a raffle? o Open a Flea Market? o Have a hoedown? o What?
We are here and there it seems , i have also been looking for more of my Tennessee nieghbors. Hello all , i hope you are all well. It would be nice to see more here , maybe we should hold a raffle or something. lol.
There are a lot of Tennesseeans gone fishing, year round. Maybe,we could do like they do,and have a get-together,in a town, with the most from TN,in/near it. So far, they have held 2 in Maryville,TN. But,none in Knoxville. Any comments?
Perhaps a controversial subject would lure some out to post. Hmmm what gets Tennesseans verbal? UT? Uh sorry if yer a UT fan. Titans...oh yeah...they've got me on the edge of my seat once again!
What about the state of the Cumberland River or the impact of the Wolf Dam? (doesn't necessarily get me going) I do hear alot of people "rag" about that. Though the damn that burst in East Tennessee the past week was tragic.
What about dog parks? I won't take my dogs to the dog parks in Nashville. Have you ever heard those people talk...they scare me lol! uh oh no offense meant to anyone
What about the Tennessee wines...now lets be for real...I'd rather drink cod liver oil!
Then there's the beauty of Tennessee...lakes, hills, mountains, wildlife and the people. It's a great state with lots of history. You can step from the city back into the hills in matter of minutes at times.

Any kind of social gathering would be nice (bars are out for me, since I am allergic to cigarette smoke). But a picnic, a "meet and greet", a movie night followed by gathering at a pizza place, or some/any other function would be great. Each major city in the state should one (Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, Nashville, Clarksville, Jackson).
Happy New Year to all my friends and to all of Tennesse. I wish each of you a very special new year and hope it will bring you all lots of smiles and laughter.
Keltic what do you mean about how they talk in the parks? I'm not sure how they do talk in the parks.
Some other good ideas too, Meet & Greetz are fun, but I meant right here in the TN forums. Seems we have very little participation here, yet we live in Tennessee! What could be better to talk about than that? The beauty of the surroundings is certainly worthy of discussion alright. We are very lucky in that respect.
As for M&G's. I have helped organize some of those in the past, although not for this particular group of folks. But to get TN singles to commit to them, and actually go, is a bit like pulling teeth. Not quite sure why.
Last post was me in January I think. But I'm not sure how to tell for sure yet.
Where are all the Tennesseans? We have to make Davey Crockett proud, don'cha know? By representation. (as opposed to taxation!)
I'm still not really well-oriented on this site, but it looks pretty good except for the lack of Tennesseans. I think the trick is probably to spend more time here. Is that it?
I found it interesting that someone said there were 2 (count 'em - 2) Meet & Greets in Maryville. Yet that is a pretty small town. Its a great little town, in my estimation anyway, and I almost moved there about two years ago. But to have two parties, when the big cities are having none, is something to be proud of. Anyone know how those 2 went?

Rowdy , I dont really know either. With all the parks and places in TN a location would be a snap its attendance thats going to be difficult. Maybe a common interest like fishing or bowling or something. Our state is not that populated and I dont even know how many are living here. I just keep coming back and checking things once in a while. I was in Athens visiting friends last weekend and will be going to the smokies at the end of the month. Bye for now.
The TN participants here are few and far between these days, but I don't think it has to be that way. I'm sure there are quite a few proud Tennesseans around here, just not necessarily represented. We just gotta find 'em and drag 'em in here is all, to get up a local chit-chat session. I'm currently in the Music City area by the way. For now. But I am considering Eastward for the future, perhaps. A lot of advantages to the Maryville area, it seems to me. Easy access to the Smokies, not very crowded, yet everything one needs in ample supply.
Sounds like you've been pretty busy checking out the attractions of a mighty fine State. I haven't been to the Old Smokies in a while now, but I certainly have missed it.
Those to the East, who have easy-access there, are very fortunate.
Okay now I have a proposal for anony-mouse readers out there. How about if you are reading this thread, you jump in briefly (or not-so-briefly iffen you like), and let us know you're here. Deal? Heck, even "YO!" is fine.
We need to come up with something of a local census, just to know what we've got to work with. So don't be shy. Just insert something so we can get a general idea.

Then we'll get this thing off the ground..

Well I guess that says it all.
Rowdy, I know what your saying about the east end of the state. I have some good friends in Athens. As a matter of fact about 8 of us are going to be renting a cabin in the smokies. I know its going to be a fun time . THey all know one another sinse High Schoo and I am the new guy but thats just fine with me IAll there stories are new to me and mine are new to them... I do think your right THe east end has a lot to offer.
Gallatin is about 30 miles from Nashville. Maybe we can go fishing or something some time.
