kennyfromdublin: So United got through against a very mediocre Greek side, they have West Ham away on Saturday and then Man City at home the following Tuesday (25th March).

Moyes should be okay for the moment but If they get humiliated against City next Tuesday his days could be numbered.

United certainly won't get Top 4 this season and don't have a chance of winning the Champions League, there will be a huge overhaul of the United team in the Summer.

Get rid of Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Raphael, Felliani (cut their losses), Giggs will probably retire, Buttner, Macheda, Nani etc. I forgot Valencia as well.

They should have sold Rooney last Summer, instead they've given him a bumper deal until 2019 worth a whopping £300,000 per week which was lunacy.

Whoever is managing Man United next summer faces a daunting challenge trying to build a new team for the future. Realistically next Season United should be aiming for 3rd or 4th place.

I'm not trying to state the obvious but

Vidic is leaving
Ferdinand is past it(says almost everyone)
Evra...how poor he looked for pace tonight against an average team..
how would he be shown up against Real Madrid for instance.
For a few seasons there, I thought Man utd just needed a new midfield but now it seems their whole back 4 is falling apart also.
As for Carrick, Cleverly, Nani, Valencia, Anderson?, Felliani....
I'm sure Barcelona, Bayern, Real Madrid etc. have been shaking in their boots laugh
The fact is that even though they won the premier league last year,
they have been shown to be a poor team in Europe in the last few years.
Remember getting put into the Europa league after failing to a major power like Basel in champions league group stages and them being humiliated home and away by another major European power..
Athletic Bilbao (I think it was) in the Europa league. Or winning just 2 games in the group stages against the weak Romanian side in the group and failing to qualify. The writing has been on the wall for a long time.
Excuse the sarcasm!
A reality check is badly needed...
They are a big club in name only right now....
I wouldn't get carried away by the result tonight.
A lot of Utd fans in the stadium were biting their nails in the last 20 minutes....The greek team had too many good chances on the night. If they draw Madrid next game????

I think the fear factor of Fergie's temper definitely helped United overachieve in Ferguson's last 3 or 4 seasons as United manager.

2012-13: The Premier League was of a brutal quality, no wonder why United ran away with the league. As for the Champions League that season, the possibly would have got past Real Madrid if Nani hadn't been sent off as United were ahead on aggregate when Nani was sent off.

2011-12: United overachieved in the Premiership taking City to the wire, they actually should have won the league as they were 8 points ahead with 6 games to go. Agreed on the Champions League, they were a disgrace against Basle and could only draw twice against Benfica. In the Europa League they barely got past Ajax and Bilbao swatted them away with ease. The Fergie fear factor resulted in an overachieving season that year in the League plus teams like Chelsea and Arsenal had their own problems to contend with.

2010-11: Barcelona destroyed United in the Champions League final that year, in fact they should have hammered United at least 6 or 7 -1. They overachieved in the Champions League by reaching the final, they won the Premiership beating Chelsea to the title.

As for tonight the Greek side should have scored at least one away goal, De Gea made a great double save in the 1st half and they missed another sitter as well.

If either Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona even Paris st Germain get United they will easily brush them aside. Even Chelsea will give United a good hiding and Chelsea don't score many goals.

100% right about De Gea and his double save in the first half.
Had it been 1-1 at halftime, I don't think Utd would have got through. Woeful goalkeeping for the free kick goal to make it 3-0.

The night Nani got sent off, Real Madrid were there for the taking.
Really high foot from Nani and after if happens he does the worst acting I've seen in years....pretending it is he that has been badly hurt and rolling around in pretend agony. If I was the ref that night, I may have let him off with a stern warning for the high
footed challenge but taking the piss like he did would have annoyed me. I reckon he didn't help his own cause with the blatant acting.

Drawn against Bayern Munich.

Arsenal didn't do too bad against Bayern so they can be beaten.

I reckon a draw at best at Old Trafford with a narrow Bayern win in the second leg. Only way I can see Utd win this tie is on away goals.
First leg could just as easy be 2-0 to Bayern. But anything can happen in a two horse race.

Yeah he has just been appointed interim manager. Feel sorry for Moyes, think players let him down?

He'd lost the control of the team a few months ago, a good few of the team weren't exactly putting in 100% effort to put It mildly over the last few months especially against the bigger teams apart from Bayern Munich.

Apparently Ferguson had a huge input in selecting Moyes as his sucessor, I wonder will Fergie be consulted on his opinions as to who should suceed Moyes.

Ryan Giggs as permanent manager!! I don't think so.

The media gets carried away as usual just because of a 4-0 win
against a bad Norwich side who are going to be relegated.
Losing at home to Sunderland for the first time since 1968 yesterday has put an end to that rubbish.
Giggs is giving "jobs for the boys" with his mates Butt, Scholes and Neville as assistants.
Does being ex Man Utd. players make them great coaching staff or managers?
Could have been 2 or 3 nil to Sunderland yesterday.
SUNDERLAND?????? at Old Trafford. Second time this year.
If Moyes was still there, what would they be saying?

Ahh but the question was 'who will be the manager". It was Ryan Giggs. Medium term they need a big name who has won at least a couple of big domestic leagues. Giggs long term maybe (but lock up your women)
