Well maybe it is not so much as the age part as the experience part. Age doesn't matter in most cases, but life experience does. Besides, define 'older'.
Just as older men are not necessarily interested in younger women. As cute as they are, they just haven't been around the block that many times. Besides, I wouldn't want to compete with my kid.
That is what your up against in a generalized sense.

Geo is right.
Age might matter to some. Depends on if the older woman has children/adults the age of the younger person interested in them. (only speaking for some women, not all) You might be an adult, have a job etc, but they might still see you as very young and don't want to raise another child.
Do you want kids? Some older women have been there done that and don't want to do that again. (or be some one's sugar mama)
What do you have in common? Life experiences? what kind of history do you share ... example, T.V. shows, movies, music, up bringing ...
I find it easier to talk to someone that will remember some events, like the first man on the moon, the 60's, etc. Just feels we would have more in common. My fiancee is 2.5 yrs younger than I am, but not so young that we do not have many things in common.
How mature does the younger person act? Depends on lots of things.
It is not a matter of why older women not liking younger men, it depends on many factors. They also have to be careful they are not a person of interest just because they have already accumulated financial stability, a home, a career, and their children might be grown (not dependent any more.)
It might also depend on how you present yourself. Do you only focus on older women?

JMO ... photos a person ( female or male? has on their profile can also say a lot.
Maybe the boy's/girl's night out (holding a beer, or all the drinks on the table) might give a certain image about maturity and why some older persons might not be interested. Not all older people are interested in playing the same games younger people are into. (just a thought)

Well I don't know if we are old or not. But I say this to myself, " I am over a half century old. ". It just doesn't sound young to me. I mean those were quite some parties I went to in the bronze age...I remember them well.
But yeah, we are like fine wine. We do get better with age...if..and I say if...we don't turn into vinegar. Scary isn't it? So there lassie, I shall raise my glass...to the bronze age

I would think us "older" ladies are a little suspicious of you younger guys! I think it is the whole "life experience" thing. You haven't been married.....had kids.....etc....
This all makes a huge difference in how the whole relationship thing would go.....

i like younger men also but it all depends how young ... my rule is not to date a guy who is young enough to be my son .... as my eldest is 24 yrs old probably 28 would be the youngest i would go ..but it depends of there maturity level and if we have things in common and on the same level with a lot of things ..... plus they have to be independent and can handle life ....
I like men a bit younger but dating someone younger than my son is debateable.
My friends and I, all women of a certain age, have always had interest shown by younger men. And I mean MUCH younger men! We think, generally speaking, that it is a little bit creepy and we wonder about their motives. In the same way, we question the motives of very young women who latch onto older, successful men.......cynical? Moi??

Very interesting topic.I think I'll add my opinion here ...I love younger men..the body is firm..the hair is there..there are no pot bellies....etc.However,I'd never date a younger man as it seems to me I'd be dating a child..like my son.I've lived a life that a younger man cannot relate to because he has to live the same and then he'll be old.However,you young men are gorgeous...and so are my children.......

I don't think it has anything to do with age. When a woman goes out with someoen she just doesn't want to be babysitting. I guess it would have to do with the life experience thing. But I have met guys that are very mature for their age . Like I said depends on personnality.
