Not hard to work out who is leading so far.
The turfed roof is something I read about way back in the late 60s and I always thought how practical it was for insulation using the lands natural features and for sheep/cattle to graze on it. In the early 70s, I did some survey work in Cronulla and the owner was a sand contractor building a home with a "natural-form" curved concrete roof and curves around the building. Loved the design. It wasn't until the mid 70s that I read Lord of The Rings and a bit later The Hobbit that I realised that Tolkien used those ideas in his books. And it wasn't until 30 years later that I saw the movies.
Oddly enough, my brother who never reads anything unless it is a technical manual, has decided on cutting his farmhouse into the hillside facing over his dam with a turfed roof for bushfire practicality.

Not really enough time to knock LiLee off her perch as the Hobbiton Photo has taken a very substantial lead and I doubt there would be any chance of the others getting close. (wish that was my place although would need to be 4 foot shorter).
So I declare 11. LiLee A Hobbit's Garden....Hobbiton NZ the ourstanding winner this month.

Few more kiwi pics to come yet aye , seen a few good uns . 'spose autumn leads to spring eventually ,yay love spring bigtime . Now back to autumn ,ummmmmmm , tis the season for madness round here as the nutters want to prove their manhood by shooting every thing that moves , the start of the mud on the track . Hawthorn trees covered in berries just for the rats . Short days getting cold . I should stop being so bloody chirpy about spring and spread the chirps around abit .
Funny thing about pictures. I get a bi-monthly magazine that I only read at breakfast time. Last week I was looking through it and there was an article about Dust Watchers - bit like those tornado watchers stuff. Then on Saturday going through the Salvos shop, there was a book with one of the photos on the cover.
Reading further yesterday and I find Nature's photo (almost) and the story about Jose Paronella and the "castle" he built in 1930, including an hydro-electric scheme to power it, near Innisfall, Qld.
