Schooners

Seen this one for sale. Next door to my home really.

Email from the owner

She is a traditionally gaff-rigged schooner built in Newfoundland in 1983 by Larry Windsor, small enough to be sailed by one, and easily sailed by two; big enough to experience the charm and thrill of the schooner age. Very sturdily built with pine plank, and hackmatack steamed timbers and other strength members (keel, stem and stern posts, bowsprit, etc.); 3 bulkheads are fiberglassed in place. Various woods (oak, rosewood, cedar) adorn the inside layout which is basic but functional and sturdy. After over 20 years of sailing, the boat, in 2004, was totally refurbished; the hull and deck were professionally fiberglassed (6 mat and 2 woven roven) and gelcoated (16 layers about the keel, stem and runout); all rails and dorade boxes were scraped and varnished; all standing and running rigging were replaced to compliment the wooden blocks and wooden dead-eyes; new sails were cut in 2006 by Michelle Stevens Sailworks of Nova Scotia; most auxiliary equipment was replaced (including engine) or reconditioned.

We purchased the boat in 2004 and did a complete overhaul on it as it was well used to that point. We opted to fiberglass the boat as the weather in this area of Quebec does not do good things to a wooden boat. The fiber-glassing was done by professional glassers; we did the unrigging and refitting which was quite an extensive task. As stated, the boat was built in Seal Cove NL. by a wonderful builder, Larry Windsor who was a genius in working with wood, metal and fiber-glass, so the boat is well constructed. We know the boat very well and after ten years of use since the refit, I see no deterioration due to the glassing.

She was fitted in 2006 with a Yanmar 40 hp diesel, 3JH4E diesel, which has about 275 hours running time – a real gem of a motor. The boat is rigged for a topsail on the main; however, we have never used the sail as lack of wind isn’t one of the challenges we have to contend with here in this location.

For the present owners, this boat has been a labor of love and pleasure, and fear not the presence of fiberglass for it is not a distraction from the wooden beauty that this boat is but a feature that will allow this boat to continue to bring sailing pleasure for many years to come, without much of the arduous work of a fully wooden boat. The present owners are reluctantly selling the boat due to the substantial effort required to launch and haul the boat in the area where it is presently located. Additionally we are both in our mid-60s. We believe this boat to be a rare find considering the present day cost of building a new and similar one.

Key size details: LOA – 39 feet; LOD – 32 feet; LOWL – 24.5 feet; Beam – 10.5 feet; Draft – 5.5 feet; cabin headroom 6.5+ feet throughout.

Cabin layout from peak to stern: The very forepeak is a rope/chain locker partitioned for two rodes and accessible from the deck. Next back is a cabin with four bunks, presently the two lowers have mattresses and two uppers are used for storage. Moving further astern is the main cabin which contains: two over-sized and mattressed lower bunks, two upper bunks used for storage, a propane wall furnace, a center drop leaf table, an enclosed head to starboard, with manual toilet, basin and cabinet and, the galley to port with a propane three-burner stove and oven, ice box and cabinets. The port side after-end of the main cabin contains the navigation and communication equipment which is accessible and viewable via a window opening from the outside cockpit. The starboard after-end contains the battery locker. Under the wooden stairs-access to the cockpit, is the engine locker. Two storage areas border each side of the engine locker, the starboard being accessible from the main cabin with the rest being accessible from outside. A 15 gallons fiberglass water tank is located under each of the lower port and starboard bunks in main cabin; ...

Im sure im not the only one

I'm looking for love again. I have known true love. I know my chances are slim but a man has to have hope. I know what it takes to make love last. So who really knows? Life is to short to be lonely and unhappy. I choose happiness and lonely. Sadness still over takes me sometimes. True love was worth it and I feel worth it again. I ride quad-runners, fish for bass. Go mushroom hunting, still sit around the fire pit at night gazing at the stars. Ive never been a loner, a player or a fool. What good is having anything if there is nobody to share it with?

Happiness is a choice

I believe happiness is a choice we make. You have to choose to be happy or let stuff get to you. We can be mad at God for taking our love, maybe even not believe in God because we lost the love of our life.
I choose to be thankful to God for the time we had and the love we had. I'm happy and lonely. My prayer is God gives me another true love and I believe anything is possible through God.

Love at first sight

I quess love at first sight is possible. I think it would be like winning the powerball. I think it would be wonderful at first but, I don't think the fortune would last a lifetime. It takes too much for true love to work. It takes time and total honesty to trust in these times. True love takes respect, understanding, compromise, devotion, and selflessness. I can't see it happening instantly. True love take complete monogamy. You can not possibly make to people feel special at one time. It takes going together down Gods path.

I can not not believe 2

This is kind of fast forwarded almost one year. It took place March 5th of 2016. How I found out my faith was fireproof. My house burned down a long with everything in it. God never promised to keep life from happening. My house caught fire. I live in a small town and volunteer fire dept. It was gusty winds. I had no insurance. I lost everything in the fire except the clothes I was wear my old car and one of my dog's. I put my complete trust in the Lord. God gives of the strengths and wisdom when we need it. I handed the burdens to him. He gave me the strength that day and the wisdom. He took the worry away from me. I stood there and watched it burn. Insread of seeing everything I was losing though because of his help I was able to watch him work his miracles. I can't count the miracles people helping me. Giving me money offering a place to stay even the redcross helped. Just before the fire dept. left a man I did not know came up to me and said" I have an old camper over at my house you can have to live in." His only request was that if I ever deside to get rid of it, not to sell it. Give it to someone who needed. Pay it forward. I was so blown away I cried. He gave me back my independence. It doesn't matter what the camper looked like. I stayed the night at a friends and went to see it the next day. It was 1993 16'' Eddie pull behind camper. It was just like brand new condition. Gean Hutchison is the mans name. He gave me six pairs of jeans t-shirts socks underwear a hoodie and a ballcap as well. God Bless that man for what he did. That day and sense then I received more Blessing than I could ever count. Because God gave me his strength and wisdom tho. Because he took the burdens away. I was able to concentrate on rebuilding my life. The baggage was lifted off. Im now in a lot bigger trailer and have replaced most of the tools. I have learned so much. I travel light because I trust in him.Do I believe in God? I know God is real. Im not a fan im a follower. I am a sinner, and a dumb sheep. Im a happy dumb sheep tho.

I CANNOT NOT BELIEVE

I have seen and heard far to many thing's to not believe. For me it doesn't feel like I believe as I know God is real. If Jesus whispered in your ear, you would then know what I am talking about. Now maybe you think I am crazy but I was there. It was only four word's and a picture in my head. This happened when I was in Church sitting in a pew. My wife could not go that Sunday because she was to weak. Cirrhosis of the lever is something I know more about now than I ever wanted to. Every Sunday the congregation( Church family) prayed for a miracle healing. They came over and lay hands on my and prayed for God to give me strength and to give me strength for Nanajo my wife. I had my eyes closed and that is when Jesus whispered to me." A MIRACLE IS COMING" that was all he said but he put a picture of a beautiful butterfly coming out of it's cocoon. I knew it wasn't the miracle that we had been praying for. Until that point I had never thought of death as a miracle. He gave me strength and wisdom both that day. Our pastor came by to see her after Church. I told them what had happen. She smiled and we prayed together. She just kept getting weaker and on Monday she fell and couldn't get up. We had to bring in hospice. Tuesday was like comatose. She kept hanging on. I think she was waiting for her sister's. The people from the hospice service told me to keep talking to her. Our hearing is the last of our senses to go. I was holding her hands at the end. I old her I loved her and not to worry about me .it's okay to go. I told her I understood I wouldn't get to see the butterfly. She took her last breath. Her eye lids fluttered and she was gone. I could feel the presence of the Lord. He was holding us both. I can't explain why some many time's he has let me feel his presence. I'm just thankful for it I know I am a sinner and a dumb sheep. Without the shepherd I would be lost. My faith in God is fireproof tho. But that is another story.
God Blessed my angel

I can not agree more. Let God carry you burdens. He is much better equipped for it and you can travel lighter. If you worry about things that you have no control over. You are putting undo stress on your body and ageing more rapidly than you should. Don't worry be happy.applause

HOLA

FEDERICO GARCÍA LORCA:
La sangre derramada
¡Que no quiero verla!

Dile a la luna que venga,
que no quiero ver la sangre
de Ignacio sobre la arena.

¡Que no quiero verla!

La luna de par en par.
Caballo de nubes quietas,
y la plaza gris del sueño
con sauces en las barreras.

¡Que no quiero verla!

Que mi recuerdo se quema.
¡Avisad a los jazmines
con su blancura pequeña!

¡Que no quiero verla!
La vaca del viejo mundo
pasaba su triste lengua
sobre un hocico de sangres
derramadas en la arena,
y los toros de Guisando,
casi muerte y casi piedra,
mugieron como dos siglos
hartos de pisar la tierra.
No.

¡Que no quiero verla!

Por las gradas sube Ignacio
con toda su muerte a cuestas.
Buscaba el amanecer,
y el amanecer no era.
Busca su perfil seguro,
y el sueño lo desorienta.
Buscaba su hermoso cuerpo
y encontró su sangre abierta.
¡No me digáis que la vea!
No quiero sentir el chorro
cada vez con menos fuerza;
ese chorro que ilumina
los tendidos y se vuelca
sobre la pana y el cuero
de muchedumbre sedienta.

¡Quién me grita que me asome!
¡No me digáis que la vea!

No se cerraron sus ojos
cuando vio los cuernos cerca,
pero las madres terribles
levantaron la cabeza.
Y a través de las ganaderías,
hubo un aire de voces secretas
que gritaban a toros celestes
mayorales de pálida niebla.
No hubo príncipe en Sevilla
que comparársele pueda,
ni espada como su espada
ni corazón tan de veras.
Como un río de leones
su maravillosa fuerza,
y como un torso de mármol
su dibujada prudencia.
Aire de Roma andaluza
le doraba la cabeza
donde su risa era un nardo
de sal y de inteligencia.
¡Qué gran torero en la plaza!
¡Qué buen serrano en la sierra!
¡Qué blando con las espigas!
¡Qué duro con las espuelas!
¡Qué tierno con el rocío!
¡Qué deslumbrante en la feria!
¡Qué tremendo con las últimas
banderillas de tiniebla!

Pero ya duerme sin fin.
Ya los musgos y la hierba
abren con dedos seguros
la flor de su calavera.
Y su sangre ya viene cantando:
cantando por marismas y praderas,
resbalando por cuernos ateridos,
vacilando sin alma por la niebla,
tropezando con miles de pezuñas
como una larga, oscura, triste lengua,
para formar un charco de agonía
junto al Guadalquivir de las estrellas.
¡Oh blanco muro de España!
¡Oh negro toro de pena!
¡Oh sangre dura de Ignacio!
¡Oh ruiseñor de sus venas!
No.
¡Que no quiero verla!
Que no hay cáliz que la contenga,
que no hay golondrinas que se la beban,
no hay escarcha de luz que la enfríe,
no hay canto ni diluvio de azucenas,
no hay cristal que la cubra de plata.
No.
¡¡Yo no quiero verla!!
